A/N: HEY ALL! How yall doing? That's great :D So, I wondered if you wanted me/Amaya Disapproves to post some of the rejected ideas for this book (we have a couple of things already written and were wondering if you wanted some). It will go up on Amaya's Blooper Reel. You should totally check it out.
But Anyhow, I still want to hear what you think. Vote, Comment and share it with your friends. And now... Zuko.... *bows and exits stage right*
He stalked towards his sister's room swiftly, his heart hammering in his chest. He'd spent all that time, after leaving his father, pacing his room - trying to come up with some reason why Azula would lie to their father.
Why she would tell him that he had been the one to kill the Avatar and give him the glory rather than keep it for herself.
In the end, he was driving himself crazy trying to figure it out and found himself shoving open her door.
"Why'd you do it?" he blurted out.
"You're going to have to be a little more specific," she drawled, her eyes still closed and her body relaxed.
She'd been expecting him.
"Why'd you tell Father that I was the one who killed the Avatar?" he demanded, unable to calm down, even though he could feel himself walking into some planned scenario.
"Can't this wait until morning?" she said lightly, still not moving or opening her eyes.
"It can't," he answered firmly.
He'd just drive himself crazy if Azula didn't tell him why she did it.
She sighed, opening her eyes as she sat up.
"Fine. You seemed so worried about how father would treat you because you hadn't captured the Avatar. I figured, if I gave you the credit, you'd have nothing to worry about."
His eyes narrowed. Azula never did things out of the kindness of her heart. She had no kindness, let alone a heart.
"But why?"
"Call it a generous gesture," she answered with a shrug. "I wanted to thank you for your help, and I was happy to share the glory."
Zuko was reminded of the time Azula had come offering him the chance to go home, how Amaya had dug her heels in and said she didn't trust Azula's kindness.
He was starting to see the things Amaya had seen all along, paying attention to the things that didn't add up. She was only saying the things he wanted to hear.
"You're lying," his eyes narrowed further.
She stepped past him lightly, almost like she was skipping.
"If you say so."
"You have another motive for doing this," he insisted. "I just haven't figured out what it is."
"Please, Zuko," he could almost hear her rolling her eyes. "What ulterior motive could I have? What could I possibly gain by letting you get all the glory for defeating the Avatar? Unless..."
She slipped by him again, her breath on his ear as she spoke that last word. As she continued, she sat neatly at the foot of her bed, watching him with a predatory gaze.
"Somehow... the Avatar was actually alive," she purred. "All that glory would suddenly turn to shame and foolishness."
Before he could retort, she shrugged smoothly, moving to settle back into bed. "But you said yourself that was impossible. Sleep well, Zuzu."
As she lay her head down, Zuko turned and stormed away.
Azula always lies!
But... what if the Avatar was alive?
What if he survived?
What then?
He stalked down the hall, these thoughts spinning through his head and leaving an anxious knot in his gut.
