Chapter ~20~

Justin's pov:

"You love me?" I ask in shock. My heart beat gets faster and faster at the thought.

"Yes. I love you so much Justin please...don't leave me again." He stops crying but the tears in his eyes twinkle. I smile wipping my tears.

"Oh my god." I giggle nervously. Do I love him?

"I don't know what I say." I tell him. He looks upset. I feel bad.

"Hey." I lean down again. He looks up at me.

"It's still early. We are just starting. I don't want to tell you if I'm not ready yet." I say. He nods. I peck his lips and sit back down in the chair. I hold his hand and he turns his head and looks out the window. My phone goes off.

Mom: How is your friend?

Me: He's...hurt.

Mom: I hope he gets better honey. Be home by 8 please.

Me: Ok.

It's 7:20 right now. It takes about 5-8 minutes to get to home so I still have a little time.

"Everything okay?" Rae asks. I put my phone down and nod.

"Its just my mom telling me to he home by eight."

"Oh ok."

The door opens and I turn to see who it is. His mom walks in. She walks to the other side of his bed and touching his forhead.

"How do you feel honey."

"My back hurts." He says quietly. He could have told me. She adjusts his bed to a better angle.

"I'll give you two some more privacy. I'll be back." She smiles looking from me back to him. I nod at her smiling back. She walks out and look back at Raegan.

"You could have told me your back hurt."

"I don't want to worry you." He says.

"You won't worry me. I'm here to help Raegan." I smile.

"Okay."

I check my phone and see I should be heading home.

"I need to get home." I say getting up from the chair.

"Oh, okay."

"Text me later if you can." I move his hair from his forhead. He nods. I lean down near his face again and kiss him. He kisses back lifting his arm to hold the back of my neck.

"I love you. Goodnight." He smiles.

"Goodnight Rae." I walk to the door and look back at him. I see him lift the blanket and cover himself getting comfortable. I smile and walk out.

Me: Be home soon.

Mom: Ok sweety.

~At home~

I walk inside and close the door behind me. My mom comes out from in the kitchen.

"Hey. Hungry?" She asks.

"A little." I walk over to her and we go into the kitchen. I sit down and she puts a plate of pasta in front of me.

"Thanks mom."

She sits down acorss from me and I start eating.

"So, what happened with your friend?" She asks.

"He was drunk driving." I say ashamed. I really wish he would have been smarter.

"Oh boy. That wasn't a good idea."

"I know. I'm just glad he's okay." I smile a little.

"Good. Well finish eating and get up to bed." She comes over and kisses my forhead.

"Ok. Goodnight mom."

I finish eating my pasta and put the bowl in the sink. I walk up the stairs to my room and shut the door. Maybe I should text him.

Me: Hey. How are you?

I'm so basic. I giggle at myself and sit on my bed. I switch my screen and scroll through Instagram. Minutes later the call screen pops up. Raegan's calling me. I quickly answer it.

"Hello?" I ask.

"J-justin?" It sounds like he's crying.

"Raegan are you okay?"

"I d-don't-" He just stops talking.

"Rae talk to me please. Are you alright?" I ask worried.

"I don't want to Jay."

"What don't want to what?"

"I need surgery." He says quietly.

"On what?" I ask.

"My foot. I-i don't want to." It sounds like his voice is breaking.

"Okay calm down you're alright. When?"

"Tomorrow."

"I'll come visit before it." I tell him.

"Please come as early as you can. I need to see you." He says. I smile a little.

"I will."

"Ok, bye." He says.

"Get some sleep Rae." I say. I hear him nod. I pull the phone away from my ear and hang up the phone. Man, I feel bad.

I'm just now realizing that Raegan isn't who he is in school. The cool Raegan from school wouldn't be scared to get surgery, or at least I don't think so. I really think it's all just an act at school. He just wants to fit in. Maybe he had a bad past? I'm not sure. That's a conversation for when he's out of the hospital.

Madison: Hey Blake?

Madison texts me.

Me: Yea mads?

Madison: You want to help me plan something for James?

Me: Like what?

Madison: Tomorrow I want to surprise him with a little date, and I can't do it alone.

Me: Sure Madison. I'm going to visit Raegan tomorrow morning. Oh yea he's in the hospital.

Madison: What? Why?

Me: I'll explain when I see you. What do you want me to do?

Madison: My friend Alexis is helping me decorate and stuff. You want to be on charge of taking him out for an hour or two?

Me: Sure why not 😂

Madison: Thanks Justin I really appreciate it. Be here at 2?

Me: I'll be there. Love you Mads.

Madison: Love ya Blake.

I shut my phone off and plug my charger in. I get under my covers and close my eyes. Falling asleep was easy on a night like this.
