Chapter ~21~

Justin's pov:

"Mom I'm going to visit Raegan!" I yell to her from the front door.

"Okay. See you later." She yells back. I walk out the door and close it behind me. I go into my car and start driving to the hospital.

I park my car in the parking lot of the hospital and get out of my car. I walk inside a little fast. I go to the front desk.

"Can I see Raegan Beast please?"

"He's getting surgery today." She tells me.

"I know, but may I please see him before he does?"

"Sure. Go ahead." She smiles.

"Thank you." I walk away from the desk. I remember where his room is I get on the elevator and go up. Once I reach his floor I rush down the hallway avoiding any other rooms. I have hospitals.

I open the door slowly to Raegan's room. I see a nurse in there talking to him. I open the door all the way and walk in a little so that I'm visible for them to see. Raegan sees me and smiles. The nurse smiles also and gets up.

"Hey." I walk closer to him.

"Hi." His voice very quite.

"I'll leave you two for a little." I turn to the nurse who starts to walk out of the room.

"Wait?" I ask. She turns around.

"When is he getting his surgery?" I ask.

"12 Pm."

"Ok." I nod. She leaves the room. I turn back to Raegan and hold his hand.

"You're going to be okay." I tell him. He nods.

"I've never gotten surgery Justin."

"Its okay, you aren't going to feel it and it will go by fast."

"I'm scared."

I lean down and kiss him, holding his neck. He kisses back but then pulls away.

"Will you be there when I wake up?"

"Absolutely." I'm still close to his face. He smiles. I kiss him again quick and
the nurse walks in.

"Your mother said now is a good time to start the surgery." She says.

"Oh um...ok. Can I have another minute." Raegan says and I feel him grab my hand and intertwine our fingers.

"Of course. I'll be back with the doctors in a few minutes." She says walking out.

"Justin?" I look down at him.

"Yes?" I ask sitting down.

"I really appreciate you being here. I love you." He smiles.

"No problem Rae....um I have a question?"

"What is it?"

"Why do you act so different in school then out of school with me?" I ask.

"I used to get bullied a lot when I was younger. And now every since high school I wanted to be the cool tough kid. That's why no one knows I'm gay or trans."

"But that doesn't mean you have to take who you are. I've been seeing the real you and I bet a lot of in school would like the real you." I smile at him. He shrugs.

"I can't do anything about it now."

"You can come out to the school."

"And I am, mostly because of you." I feel myself blush as we smile at each other.

I never knew Raegan got bullied. I never knew the real him. And out of all people he told me. He told me everything. His sexuality, his past. Things i'd never thought he would tell me. He trusts me. He loves me.

"Are we ready?" I turn around to see the nurse coming in.

"Yea, I think so." Raegan says. Sitting up a little in bed looking a bit nervous.

"Ok, I'll go get the doctors." She walks out again. I look at Rae. I love him.

I stand up quick and lean down again to kiss him. He seems surprised at first because it happened so fast but kisses back. It's a long kiss, longer then I expected. I pull away.

"Raegan?"

"Yes?"

"I love you too."

I see his cheeks turn a dark as mine do too. He smiles and picks his head up to kiss me again.

"Don't be nervous about this. It's going to go by fast and when you wake up, I'll be right next to you holding your hand. I promise."

"I love you."

"I love you too."

The doctors come in and I back away from his bed still holding his hand. He seems so tense. I let go slowly and let his hand fall. I nod at him. He seems to calm down. I walk to the door and look back at him. He's staring at me, tears filling his eyes. I walk back to him quick and go close to his face.

"You got his baby. Just know I love you and you are doing this for me."

He nods and kisses me. I walk back to the door and once again look back at him. He's nodding at the doctors. I'm so proud of him. I walk out and close the door. I make my way to the waiting room and sit down.

I promised him I will be there when he wakes up. So I don't want to leave the hospital. How long does foot surgery take? An hour? A few hours? I don't know. But I'm not leaving.

Me: Mom, Raegan needs surgery on his foot. I told him I would be here when he woke up so I don't want to leave.

Mom: That's fine sweety. I'm glad you care about your friend so much. I'm not doing anything do you want me to bring you some food?

Me: Would you?

Mom: Of course. Taco bell?

Me: You know me so well 😂

Mom: See you soon.

I shut my phone off and stay sitting on the comfortable chair. Nothing can go wrong during foot surgery. Right?
