Chapter 30
Harry’s POV
I left Gabrielle’s house with quite an obvious smile plastered onto my face. I knew my aunt noticed my giddy smile last time I came home with one, but this time I was going to hide it. I was just going to tell her that Gabrielle would be coming over for dinner at some point, and just leave it at that. I still couldn’t shake the thought of what her reaction would be when she saw that the girl I was bringing over for dinner was a figure skater which, might I add, she already knew pretty well.
I’m not really sure who or what type of girl she is expecting me to be bringing over. Surely she should guess that it would probably be someone from the rink because there and the buffet have been where I spent most of my time the first few weeks I was living here.
I turned the radio in my car on in attempts to drown out my thoughts for a while as I drove back to my aunt’s house.
The music helped somewhat but I was still stuck with my own thoughts. I wasn’t sure how I was going to get to sleep tonight since the rambling thoughts in my mind wouldn’t stop. I guess I cold say know that I understand most of Gabrielle’s stress, but hers has got to be a lot worse I’m guessing.
I soon arrived back at my aunt’s house and I knew she was awake still because I had made it home a little earlier than I have lately.
I was hoping that Ben was still up so maybe I could get out of discussing everything and just go straight to bed before Ben did. I knew there really was no way to avoid it all because my aunt is going to talk to me tomorrow, and I knew it was easier to talk to her now so I wouldn’t have to worry about it, but I still wanted to put it off until tomorrow. I parked my car in the driveway and took the keys out before getting out of the car.
When I walked in, I didn’t hear my aunt ask if it was me like she usually did so I decided to just head on to my room. As I was about to walk into the living room since I needed to go through it to get to my room, I saw the TV on and my aunt and Ben sitting on the couch watching something I’d never seen before.
As I glanced over at them again, I noticed there was someone else sitting on the couch with them too. I made myself stop staring as I tried to think of who would be here and I tried my best to sneak past them but of course Ben had to turn around at that moment and if I hadn’t had that moment of staring at the back of the unknown head, I probably would’ve made it back to my room.
“Harry!” Ben said once he had turned around and saw me.
“Hey Ben,” I smiled back at him and then turned to watch as my aunt and the mystery figure paused the TV and began to turn around as well.
I wasn’t exactly prepared to see my coach being the person that was sitting on the couch next my aunt, but there was no way I could deny he was here because I could see him now on my couch, my shocked stare locked on him.
“Nice to see you Harry,” my coach eventually said, probably having enough of me staring at him.
I wasn’t trying to be rude; I just didn’t expect to see him here when I got home. At first I had hardly even recognized him with out his red baseball hat on which he wears all of the time.
“Hey coach,” I answered with a nod, not exactly sure what to say.
My aunt has obviously told Ben that she is dating now, and it doesn’t seem to bother him at all which is a good thing. I noticed my aunt whisper something into my coach’s ear before she got up and walked over to me.
“Can we talk in the kitchen?” she asked him, and I nodded before following her into the kitchen.
This conversation was going to go in either two ways, either she’s going to tell me why my coach is here and all that, or she is going to ask me about Gabrielle.
