Chapter 35
Harry’s POV
My aunt had had a big smile on her face as she had turned around to greet us, however I hardly got to see it for a second before it turned down into a confused frown.
“Gabrielle?” she questioned, even though it was obvious that Gabrielle was standing there, I guess she had to make sure.
“Yeah,” Gabrielle answered, her voice a bit scratchy.
“Well I, I don’t know what to say. I wasn’t really expecting you to be the girl Harry has been head over heels for,” she said, and I was now pretty angry that she said that.
First off because I didn’t want Gabrielle to think that I just spend all my time gushing about her to my aunt because I don’t, my aunt makes me talk about her. Secondly, I wasn’t sure how Gabrielle was going to take that comment hopefully it won’t affect her right now because she knows that there are other things to think about right now.
Gabrielle and my aunt just exchanged small smiles, both I could tell were forced.
“Harry, may I speak with you in the living room for a moment?” my aunt said to me, making sure it didn’t sound like a question as she tried to act like everything was fine.
I could tell she was starting to get a bit stressed since so far this dinner wasn’t going the way she had hoped. She was expecting the girl I was bringing over to be someone she’d probably never met before and that we’d all sit at the dining room table and get to know each other and everything would be great.
“Can’t we just do it here? Or wait until later?” I said, trying to get out of having to talk about this right now.
I knew I was going to have to discuss this with her at some point and I should probably just get it over with, but as I’ve discovered I like to stall and avoid things for as long as I possibly can.
“Harry,” she said sternly, and I knew that I shouldn’t bother even trying to argue with her right now because I was probably going to lose as I might as well accept defeat now.
I nodded at her and then followed her out of the kitchen and into the living room, leaving Gabrielle in the kitchen for the time being. I wasn’t sure what my aunt was going to say to me, in fact I’ve been wondering ever since this whole dinner was set up, so I guess now I’m going to find out and I don’t really think I want to hear what she has to say now.
I really had no clue what her reaction would be so I guess I should be glad that it’s going the way it is right now since she’s being pretty calm when she could be lashing out at us if she really wanted to, I don’t know.
“Are you mad,” I instantly asked once we were out in the living room, not giving her a chance to really say anything first.
She sighed, “No, I’m not mad, just confused, maybe a bit angry,”
“About what?” I asked her.
“Well first of all I’m confused about how all this even started between you two with the whole feud and everything,” she said.
“Well I’ve spent most of my time either at the rink or at the buffet with the guys so I don’t really see it very shocking that we met,” I told her.
“I get that part, but what I don’t understand is how you actually talked to her at the rink, again I bring up the feud,”
“She needed a ride home and her friend and all the hockey guys had already left the rink,” I answered.
“I don’t understand why you didn’t just tell me,” she then said.
“I didn’t know how, I was scared too,” I told her, “I wasn’t sure what you would think,”
