"What makes you think you are the target?" Adam asks, "There were plenty of people in that diner. Anyone he shot could've been a target. Or even a random attack."
"The way he was checking out the place," Riley said, "And the second he saw me he rushed to his car and the shots began."
Voight nods, "Alright. I want Halstead and Lindsey to check out the scene again, see if we missed anything. Antonio and Olsinky track down that car owner. Atwater and Ruzek get the statements from the victims from Chicago Med."
The others nod and began to head out.
Voight pointed at Riley and motioned him to go into his office. She followed him inside and he shut the door behind him.
"I had an idea you working here would cause trouble." Voight said.
Riley looks at him, "I didn't do anything." She said.
"Not today," Hank said, "But seven years ago is a different story."
Riley frowns at him, "I was sixteen years old, Voight. People make mistakes."
"True, but normally they don't make the kind of mistakes you made and get off the way you did." Voight said.
Riley watched him sit down in his seat and cross his arms on his chest, staring at her. He watched Riley cross her arms on her chest as she stared at Voight.
"So any ideas on who'd want you dead?" Voight asks.
Riley frowns, "Not that I can think of." She said.
Voight had a frown, "No one from that old neighborhood you grew up in? No one from the local gang? How about that guy you use to run around with?"
Riley kept her frown, "Haven't spoken to any of them since I went to juvie." She said.
"You better not be lying to me." Hank said.
"I'm not," Riley said, "We done?"
Voight nods.
Riley then leaves Hank's office and heads out of the building. She marches outside the district building and walked around the corner, only to stop. She turned to lean her hands against the brick building taking it all in.
Her phone was ringing. She pulled out her phone and leaned against the wall answering it.
"Hello," Riley said.
"My, my. Riley Schmidt, you sound well." A familiar male voice spoke.
Riley looked around, "Simon," She said.
"Awe, you remember me. I feel so honored. I assumed since you joined forces with the cops, you'd forget me." Simon said.
Riley looked around the area, "Why are you calling?" She asks.
"A warning," Simon starts, "Today's shooting was a warning to you."
Riley saw a guy across the street in black on the phone, "A warning? Why?"
Riley hears laughing, "Because Riley, you pissed off a lot of people making that deal seven years ago."
Riley began to walk across the street toward the person. She notice people walking by, some cops and others civilians. As Riley got near the guy in black, she noticed it wasn't Simon.
"Just remember, Riley," Simon said, "Don't shoot the messenger."
Within a few seconds, the black SUV parked in front of the guy just exploded. Riley was thrown back and rolled on the ground. She groaned and hit the ground hard. She heard car alarms going off, people screaming, sirens. Until nothing. Blackness consumed her.
