Riley stepped out of the district she was hauled in for her statement on her whereabouts and any information regarding her father. However, Riley just leaned against the building wall. Thinking about everything over and over again.
"Miss Schmidt," A voice echoed in her brain, "When was the last time you saw your father?"
When Riley reheard that question in her head she remembered not even answering the officer, because she didn't even know. Riley pulled her phone out and looked at the time, it was really late. However, a familiar car pulled up to greet her.
Rolling down the window was Voight.
"Riley," He said, "Get in."
Riley holds her arms around herself to keep herself closed off, "I want to see him."
Voight frowns, "Riley,"
"I am not going anywhere until I see his body." She said, "I have that right."
Voight sighs and opens the door, "Fine. Get in."
Riley walks over to the car and stepped in. Upon getting in, there was no conversation between the two. Riley just stared out the window at the streetlights. Frowning.
"He was shot with a small pistol," The voices echoed, "Do you own a gun, Miss Schmidt?"
Riley hasn't had a gun since she ran in the old neighborhood, but she has fired a gun since seven years ago. Riley couldn't shut off the voices, the questions.
Finally Voight seemed to have enough with the silence and turns to Riley at the red light. He noticed the pure exhaustion, and not just from not being able to go to bed, but from this news.
"How much do you know?" He asks.
"My dad was shot in the head but some small pistol," She said, "They thought I might know a thing or two, but we were never close."
"Still," Voight said, "He was family."
Riley said nothing to that, instead just turned to look out the window again. Voight hit the gas as the light turned green. Glancing at Riley one brief time before driving.
"The man who did this will be found," He said.
Riley said nothing.

Upon reaching the morgue Riley and Voight entered where the bodies were at. The doctor there brought them in and pulled out Riley's father's body. Luke Schmidt looked dead, he didn't even look like he was faking it.
Riley sees the wound from the gunshot in his head and sees some defense wounds on his body. Riley was a bit shocked to see that.
"He fought back," Riley spoke aloud without noticing it.
The doctor nods, "Seems to be the case."
Voight turns to the doctor, "Able to recover any other DNA off of him?"
"It's been sent to our labs," He said, "Should find out as soon as possible."
Voight nods.
"I'll give you two some time," The doctor then walked out giving Riley some time to say goodbye.
Riley looks at the dead body of her father. So many things came to mind, so many things she wanted to say. Riley went to reach over to him but hesitated by making her hands into fists and beginning to shake.
"Stupid," Riley said, "Stupid son of a bitch."
Voight tilt his head to look at Riley.
"If it wasn't going to be the damn drugs it was going to be some form of violent death," She said, "Now I am left to deal with your crap."
