Riley arrived at district 21 at seven am, an hour before Voight asked her to be there. She didn't want him to think she was a mistake, after all she just quit her job working as a tech at the grocery store's cameras just for this.
Riley was wearing a dark green jacket, black t-shirt underneath, blue skinny jeans, black boots, and a black beanie over her dark hair.
As Riley walked up the steps to reached a desk with an older women in front of it. She noticed two patrol officers standing in front seemingly getting their duties for the day.
"Excuse me uh," Riley reads the officer behind the desk, "Sergeant Platt? I am looking for Sergeant Hank Voight."
The two patrol officers seemed to be snickering expecting Riley to be drilled by the Sergeant. However, that was not what happened.
"Up those stairs," She answered Riley, "He's expecting you."
Riley nods and goes to head up the stairs and noticed a male office in civilian clothes standing by a gate to buzz her in.
"Hi, Jay Halstead." He said.
"Riley Schmidt." She introduced.
Jay and Riley walked up the stairs leading to the Intelligence Unit. Riley sees photographs on the board of crime scene as well as suspects. Hank with his fellow detectives were discussing the case.
"Ruzek and Olinsky, question the girlfriend again. Some things aren't adding up." Hank said.
After he said that, the two officers went to leave but paused upon seeing Riley next to Jay. Riley saw Hank even notice her as well, as Riley scanned the room she saw a female officer who looked oddly familiar.
"Everyone this is Riley Schmidt," Hank says, "She's our new tech expert."
The officer called Ruzek smiles and offers his hand, "Nice to meet you. I'm Adam Ruzek." He said.
Riley nods and shakes his hand.
"I'm Alvin Olinsky," Alvin said, "However, hate to cut this introduction short but we have to go."
Riley nods, "Right," She said feeling awkward.
Alvin and Adam both left. Walking over were two officers, male and female.
"Antonio Dawson," He said offering to shake.
"Hi," She shakes hands with Antonio.
The female next to her smile, "Erin Lindsey,"
Riley nods taking this all in.
From his office Voight calls, "Schmidt, office!"
Riley pushes pass the three detective and head to Voight's office. Upon entering it, he shut the door behind him. He walked to his seat and takes a seat down.
"You're an hour early," He commented.
Riley nods, "Wanted you to see I'm worth it, sir."
Hank nods and then stands up, "Alright," He begins to leave his office, "Follow me."
Riley returns to the place where the desks of the other officers were as well as the board with the photos hanging.
"Our case is about death of Hector Diaz, he is a known gang member in Canaryville. His mother is claiming it was a hit because Hector wanted out of the gang." Hank said.
Riley looks at the photo, "Age?"
"Diaz was nineteen years old," Erin Lindsey added, "He had been accepted into an out of state college and was planning on going in the fall."
