"How is he?" Riley asks as she met up with Will as she entered the ER.
Will handed a tablet to a nurse at the nurse's station and motioned for Riley to follow him to one of the rooms in the ER he was being held in.
"He is doing alright," Will said, "The mixture of the drugs is having a strange reaction to him. So we'll keep the IV in him, also giving him some antibiotics in case."
Riley nods, "Alright. Thanks."
Will nods and pats her back for support, "He's gonna make it."
Riley nods while faking a smile as he walked pass her to treat other patients. Riley stood there looking in the glass door at her sleeping father. Riley looked at him more and all she could see was the failure of a man he truly is.
Sixteen year old Riley came home from school with a busted up lip, he father never noticed nor cared. The busted lip didn't come from school, it came from her after school job.
"You're home," Luke spoke as his words slurred, "About damn time."
Riley pulled the hood off her head and turns to him, "It's three thirty and you're drinking alright?"
Luke looks at her from the couch and TV remote in hands, "It's five o'clock somewhere."
Riley rolls her eyes, "Damn drunk."
Luke did nothing. Riley walked up the stairs and head to her room. She had gotten a new job, this job related to a drug exchange and the gun is just in case. She dropped her backpack on the floor and sat on her bed. She unzipped the backpack and pulled out a nine millimeter pistol.
"You okay, Riley?" It was Dr. Rhodes pulling her from her memories.
Riley glanced at Conner, "My dad."
Conner nods as he glanced at the patient, "Yeah- uh Will explained it to me." He said.
Riley looks from Conner to her dad laying on the bed, "I'm going to see how he's doing."
Conner nods and heads off to check on patients. Riley slid the door open and then slid it shut behind her. She turns to face her old man.
"Idiot," Riley said as she sits down in the chair next to the chair, "God damn idiot."
-CHICAGOPD-
Riley sat there hearing the monitors beep as her father rested. Nurses came in, April actually was one of the nurses assigned to her father, checked on his vitals. Will came in briefly.
Riley rubbed the temples of her head as she was being sent back to that time, the time before her life changed because of Hank Voight.
Riley, sixteen years old, stood with a group of teens and young adults in an alley. The adults were handing money to a guy.
"Everything is here, Simon." A twenty something black guy said.
Simon grins and hands the bag to the guy, "And everything is here for you Dante." Simon said.
A few seconds a patrol car rolled up with lights on and everything. Riley reached for her pistol as the others had their gun out firing at the cops. However she remain frozen in fear, as the others ran, she felt someone nudge her, but that was about it.
Riley stood there for a few seconds before heading to the car. Riley slowly reached the car door to see the patrol officer alone and he had opened the door and slid out of his seat.
Riley pointed the gun at him, "Don't move copper!"
The officer looks at Riley. The look in his eyes made Riley hesitate at that moment.
