Riley had taken the girls back to their home about eight in the morning, she had worked something out with Voight to come a little late and promised it would never happen again.
After arriving a bit late, Riley noticed there was a new case.
"Nice of you to join us, Schmidt." Voight said not even looking up from his file.
Riley frowns. She reaches into her bag and pulled out her laptop, already having everything up on her laptop. She was looking at the case they were on.
"Lucius Newman," Voight said, "He is a very dangerous criminal and has already murdered two police officers."
Jay holding the photos of the crime scene adds, "Newman was smart about almost everything relating to the attack," He flips through the photos, "Avoiding every angle the street cameras could've picked him up on."
Adam nods, "He just didn't count on the officer's identifying him before they died." He said.
Riley finishes typing in her computer, "His last address is dated for about three months ago," She looks up from her laptop, "Likely is he doesn't live there anymore."
Voight looks at Olinsky and Dawson, "Check out the address," He starts, "See if there is something leading to a new location."
Dawson and Olinsky grabbed their guns and badges and headed out. Riley watched that and turns to see Voight giving orders to Adam and Kevin.
"You two go back to the crime scene," Voight said.
Adam and Kevin nod.
"See if there is something we missed." Voight's voice was a little angrier.
Adam and Kevin headed out, also taking the important stuff i.e., gun and badge. That just left Lindsey and Halstead as well as Riley with the Sergeant.
"Lindsey and Halstead," He looks at them, "Talk to the witnesses again. I want to know they have told us everything."
Lindsey and Halstead headed out, leaving with their gun and badge. Riley watched the last of the officers leave. Riley turns to see Voight there.
"Hank," Her voice was soft, "What happened?"
Hank looks at Riley, "At three in the morning," His rough voice paused, "Officer Baker and Officer Lawson were gunned down and murdered by Lucius Newman."
Riley had read some of his record, "And Lucius is a wanted man for murder in at least three other states, correct?"
Hank nods, "He started his killing in Ohio. It all started with the death of a fellow officer in the Columbus Police. Then he moved from Ohio to Kentucky and then here to Chicago."
Riley looks at his record some more, "A total of ten deaths?"
"Twelve as of now." Hank said bitterly.
Riley frowns.
"Riley," He looks at her, "Keep that gun on you."
Riley looks at him, "Voight,"
He shakes his head, "I don't care if you think you don't need it or can handle anything. This guy is serious and probably even worst than Jesus." He said.
Riley nods, "I- I wasn't going to fight you on it." She said, "I just- I wanted to make sure you were okay."
She knew how Hank would react to the death of an officer, even if he didn't know them or not. It was his brothers and sisters in blue. At the same time, these officers were becoming like family to Riley.
