As I pack up from my morning class I see girls circle around Haruhi. I walk up to her and wave to the girls. "Really? All the afternoon classes have been cancelled?" Haruhi asks.
"You mean no one told you?" One says.
"It's going to be crazy around here for the next two days. Ouran is hosting an exposition for the cultural clubs," The other says.
"Drama and choral clubs from a bunch of other schools have been invited," The first one says.
"Yeah," I tell her, "It's a big event this school hosts annually... I personally love it. I think you will too."
"Is that so?" Haruhi asks.
"What? You've never tried it?" They twins ask loudly. I look back and see them and poor Renge.
"Didn't anyone tell you that it's the preferred drink of the host club?" Hikaru says to her."And you are our manager, so you should drink it too," Kaoru says.
"That poor girl," I sigh.
"Um well, I-I think I've heard of instant coffee before. Oh, that's right," Renge says, "Isn't that one coffee beans that have already been ground for you?"
"Bzzzt!" They say.
"That's just ground coffee. Instant is something completely different. I don't even think there're any coffee beans in instant coffee. You just mix this powder with hot water and drink it. You don't have to brew it. It's pretty awesome," Hikaru explains. I join them as Haruhi packs up her things."So, it's basically just like coffee, but not as robust," Kaoru says.
"And yet it's so strangely satisfying," I tell them, "like weirdly amazing."
"Now that you mention it, we just ran out of it, didn't we?" Kaoru asks."Yeah we did," I confirm. He and Hikaru look at Haruhi.
"Go buy us some more, Haruhi," They demand.
"Oi be nice," I tell them.
"Why do I have to go get it?" Haruhi asks.
"Because you're the only commoner. No one else knows where to buy it," Hikaru says."We've even been serving it to our guests lately," Kaoru says, "And besides, it's part of your job."
"But the cultural club exposition starts soon," Haruhi says.
"Yeah, but it's not mandatory. So if you're not interested, you don't have to go," Hikaru says.
"And with that being said," Kaoru says.
"Be careful out there," They say. I roll my eyes and look at Haruhi."Can I come with?" I ask her, "so they aren't always bothering you to do it." She nods.
"If you want," She says. I smirk.
"I do," I tell her, "and since I'm not wearing the ugly banana dress I won't stick out as much."
"You still will," Haruhi mumbles.
"Thanks for helping them out you guys," One of the girls talking to Haruhi says.
"No problem. I just wish they'd buy their own instant coffee," She groans.
"Well, I don't know if that'll ever happen but I'm glad they seem to be having a good time."
"And it's all thanks to you guys."
"All thanks to us?" Haruhi and I ask.
"We've been in the same class with the twins ever since middle school... Like you Y/n... They didn't used to be this cheerful and friendly. They were always quiet and withdrawn. They didn't have many friends. It's like they didn't want anyone to get too close. I don't think they liked school very much. They seemed so bored by it. I guess things started to change when the host club was created. Since then, they've come out of their shells little by little," The girl says.
"Really?" Haruhi asks. I nod.
"But they really opened up since you've joined host club. And since they are getting closer with you Y/n," She says, "Now they talk and joke with everyone in class. That's why we wanted to make sure you knew how grateful we are to you. Because of you, the twins are having fun and enjoying each day to the fullest." I smile at her and bow slightly.
