I wake up a few minutes before my alarm goes off, which doesn't happen very often. I go into my drawers and pull out a navy bandeau, matching bottoms, a white Vineyard Vines t-shirt, and beach shorts. I throw my hair up in a ponytail and meet everyone downstairs. We load up everything in the car and head out to meet Brittany. As soon as we get there, Brittany finds us and helps unload.

"If you want to just take everything to the pavilion areas that'd be great," she tells us. We grab the stuff out of the trunk and take it to the tables under the pavilions. It doesn't take very long to set up. All of the food goes on one table and we put tablecloths and balloons on the other ones.

"I think that's everything," I say.

"Yeah, that's it," Brittany confirms. The party officially begins in a little over an hour but a lot of people will come late or leave early. Brittany's dad is coming a little closer to lunch time to make hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone. As we finish throwing away the last few wrappers, Cristina arrives.

"You guys done already?" She asks.

"Yep, just finished," I answer. "You up for some beach volleyball?"

"Always!"

"Awesome, you coming Evan? Brittany?" I ask.

"Yeah, sure," Evan shrugs.

"Of course!" Brittany says as she grabs the volleyball. We all run across the parking lot to the sandy court. Brittany's mom is staying with all of the stuff while we play. The boys and Hannah are coming a little late because their hotel is ready today. They had to pack and take everything there.

"I'm with Crissy!" I say before anyone gets a chance to say otherwise.

"No fair! It should be three against one!" Brittany retorts, referencing Cristina's clear advantage over us all, considering she's actually a volleyball player.

"It's fine, Brittany. We'll beat them," Evan says and she glares at us but heads to the other side of the net.

"You won't," I say back. I'm pretty sure he knew he couldn't win because it seems like the sand on their side is a magnet for the ball. He doesn't seem aggravated though like he normally would. After twenty minutes, Luke pulls in and parks closest to the courts.

"Hey dude you're on our side," Evan says before he's even all the way out of the car.

"Cool," he says and jogs over to them.

"We're toast," Cristina says just loud enough that only I can hear.

"What?" I ask.

"Luke!" She says even quieter.

"What about him?"

"He's a volleyball player. A really good one. Amazing," she informs me.

"We'll just have to step up our game then won't we?" I say and then we high five each other. Turns out, Luke IS really good but that didn't stop us from beating them.

"Good game," Luke says, fist bumping the both of us.

"You're not bad, Blondie," Cristina says to him and he rolls his eyes, laughing a little.

"You're no so bad yourself!" He says back.

"Why thank you," she says somewhat graciously. We head back to the pavilions where Brittany's dad is just now setting up the grill.

"Morning kids!" He says to all of us.

"Morning," we all reply in unison. Over the next half hour, Ava, Emma, and Ari show up. Just as I'm wondering where the guys and Hannah are, my phone vibrates.
