I walk into my second period which is chemistry. I don't have a lab partner, which is perfectly fine by me. Science is one of my best subjects.
Last year I did have a lab partner, total dumbass who almost made me fail chemistry. So, this year when someone had to survive without one, I gladly volunteered.
Literally, I screamed 'I volunteer' in Katniss Everdeen voice since that's my mom's favorite movie and the line is a classic.
I lay my head down on the table intending on resuming my nap from the first period.
"Class, I would like you to welcome Jayden Dallas." I hear my teacher say making my head shoot up. That asshole can't be in this class. "Please call me Jay." He points out. "Mr. Dallas you can sit down next to Ms. Mendes, she'll be your chemistry partner from now on," my chemistry teacher Mr. Thomas tells him pointing towards my workplace.
"What? No! He can't be my partner!" I object. "Why not?" Mr. Thomas asks as I see Jay smirk. "Because he's a stupid ass Mr. Thomas. He can't ruin my grade." Mr. Thomas crosses his arms. "How do you know that? You don't know this fine young man," he points out as Jay nods in agreement.
"Don't you dare nod in agreement Jayden Cameron Scott Dallas!" Jay looks at me in disbelief as I scream out his full name. "And for you, Mr. Thomas, unfortunately, I do know this not so fine young man. His father is my mother's best friend, I've practically known him all my life and I'm not going to partner up with him."
I know, I'm acting like a drama queen. Maybe I'm acting like a spoiled brat, but I honestly don't care. Jay has been an ass to me all my life and I'm not going to partner up with him. Jay might have the looks and I'm perfectly aware that his mother was valedictorian in her class, but even if Jay is the smartest kid on earth, I will never work with him. I absolutely hate his guts.
I don't know how Jay is such an awful person, while Emily is an amazing girl. Maybe, just maybe, Jay learned a little from his father, because if I have to believe dad. Cameron was a jerk from time to time, especially when it came to girls.
When I asked my parents why Jayden was always such a jerk towards me, mom said that he might have a thing for me.
Weird right?
Dad joked that the Dallas boys might always have something for the Mendes ladies. I have no clue what it meant, but before I could ask, I already stormed out of the living room.
Never will I ever date Jayden Dallas. It's absolutely impossible. I hate that guy with every fiber in my body. Even if he has a thing for me, I will personally make sure to stay away from him.
"Ms. Mendes, you will work with Mr. Dallas. End of story," I see Jay smirk in arrogance as he walks to our desk. "Awh, poor little Ms. Mendes, she doesn't get what she wants," he mocks me. I throw the papers he needs in front of him. "Little Ms. Mendes wants you to shut up!" I scold him.
---
Apparently, Jay is in most of my classes, so all day his annoying ass has been following me. Sitting next to me in class and walking next to me through the hallways, while all the girls throw me glares in envy.
Currently, we're walking into the cafeteria. Unlike most high schools, our school actually serves good food. I pick a plate full of lasagna, which is good, but never as good as my mother's. I also grab a bottle of water and a blueberry muffin.
What can I say, I'm a father's girl.
I scan the cafeteria and find Liv and Kev already seated at a table and Emily walking their way.
"Can somebody please adopt Jay from me?" I whine as I sit down. My twin brother throws me a glare as Emily bursts out in laughter.
"Oh come on little Mendes, I'm not that bad." I roll my eyes at the arrogance in his voice and the way he uses my family nickname. "I'm serious, guys," I tell my friends. "Kev, I know he's your best friend and all, but he's a nightmare! He's been following me everywhere!" Jay rolls his eyes as he smirks.
