"Kailee! Kailee wake up!" I hear a voice and get shaken a little. "Kailee, please wake up!"
The voice is desperate and quite familiar. I want to open my eyes, but I can't. "Please, Kailee. Please, I can't lo--" the voice doesn't end its sentence.
I finally manage to open my eyes. At first, everything is a blur, but soon I recognize some stuff. I recognize trees and some bushes. I also see a person, most likely a boy, with brown hair.
"Oh Kailee, thank god you're alive," the brown-haired-boy tells me. My vision turns okay again and I recognize the boy as Jay.
"Where does it hurt?" He asks me cupping my cheeks. I shake my head, because I'm not able to blurt out words.
Jay picks me up bridal style carefully. "Let's get you home," he whispers walking out of the trees to the front of the school.
"No, I can't go," I manage to get out. My voice is hoarse. "Jay I can't go home," I tell him again. He curtly nods before he sets me down in the passenger's seat.
Jay sits down on the driver seat. He doesn't say anything. He just drives out of the parking lot. "Jay, I'm serious. I can't go home right now," I tell him yet again. He nods again and keeps on driving.
All the way home, Jay doesn't say anything. I don't either. We just sit and listen to the music. I don't pay attention to anything. I just stare at my hands and from time to time I stare at Jay.
He holds the steering wheel loosely. He is whistling softly. I haven't noticed it before, but Jay is one handsome young man. In this position, there is no trace left of his usual arrogance. He holds a sly smile on his face. He looks peaceful in some weird way.
"We're here," he tells me stopping the car. I finally look up from my hands. Only to see that we aren't standing in front of my home. We are standing on a parking lot in front of the beach. I look at him. My mouth hangs a little open in confusion. I want to say something, but I can't get any words out.
"You said you couldn't go home," Jay explains for me. "And I know how much you love being at the beach." Before I can say another thing, Jay steps out of the car. I'm still a little in shock as he walks around the car. I follow him with my eyes until he opens the door. Jay gently picks me up bridal style. He carries me to a private place.
There aren't that many people on the beach today. It's kind of chilly today, which keeps most people away from the beach. These days are usually the days I love to go to the beach most.
Jay gently sets me down on the sand. He soon sits down on the sand also. "Why did you bring me here?" I ask him.
"What happened to you?" Jay asks me dismissing my question. "Just some bullies jealous of my father," I lie right in his face.
"Lee Lee, don't lie to me," Jay commands me. "I'm not lying," I tell him again, fiddling with the necklace around my neck. "Kailee, you always fiddle with that stupid necklace when you're lying," Jay tells me pointing to my hands. I abruptly take my hand away from the necklace.
It's one with a 'K' pendant, our father gave both Kevin and I the same necklace as a birth present. Neither of us has ever taken it off. Unless it was to change the chain because it was too small. It's a token of love, unison, and family. It's a token that shows us that we'll always stand up for each other and be by each other's side.
"I'm not lying this time," I snap at him. He nods, but I can see in his eyes that he doesn't believe me. I stare out at the sea.
The waves calm me down a little. They allow me to calmly go over the events that happened the past couple of hours. I've been knocked out by my boyfriend. My brother's best friend was the one to find me and now we're sitting here on the beach.
