"I have the best present!" My brother shouts as he walks into the kitchen of the house Jay and I share. I smile as I go back to decorating the cake and getting some of the dishes already set up.
After we came back for our honeymoon, we moved into this house. Jay wanted the whole domestic life thing as soon as we got back from our honeymoon.
So, we started looking for houses a couple of months ago. At first, we had started looking for a house that we could move in immediately.
But we couldn't find a house we liked. Every time we would like a house, we didn't like the location and the other way around.
So, we started looking for houses that needed a little renovation. Eventually, we found this perfect beach house. We have neighbors, but we also have a hell of a lot of privacy.
We even have a part private beach and even if we didn't, we still have a huge backyard before the beach starts. There's actually a lot of space and it looks a lot like a barn.
In fact, I believe it's a barn, but Jay says it doesn't require as one. It's a constant discussion between the two of us.
I'll still just call it a barn.
Anyway, we had hired an interior designer and she did an amazing job. As soon as we got home, we could move in and all of our stuff was placed there in boxes by our friends and family. It was really sweet of them because we hadn't asked them for it.
That was a month ago.
Jay and I have been married for four months now and it has been the best. We went on our honeymoon for three months and have been traveling a lot in those months.
Both of us hate sitting still on vacation while there's a whole world waiting for us and since we barely get to see the world when we're working, we decided to do it on our honeymoon.
Jay had planned the whole trip out and it was the best. I have seen places that I'll never forget. It was absolutely wonderful.
"I'm pretty sure it's my turn this year," Emily argues with my twin brother.
Every year on every birthday we have, we, especially Kevin and Emily, argue over who has the best birthday present. I don't know where it comes from, but it's something childish that sticks around.
Meanwhile, Jay sneaks up behind me and wraps his strong arms around me. He places a sweet kiss on my neck and keeps his head buried there. "I love you so much," he whispers against the exposed skin.
"I love you too," I whisper almost inaudibly, but I know he has heard it because I can feel a smile form on his lips against my skin.
"You won't say that when you've seen my present," Liv comes between my brother and sister-in-law.
"Don't you think it's my turn this year?" I ask with a little smile as I look up from the snacks.
"You married him, present enough," Kevin says turning back to his argument. "That wasn't a birthday present," I say with a loud scoff.
"Then what was it?" Demi asks also joining the conversation. She takes a knife and starts cutting vegetables as well. d
"A life present. That's something different," Jay cuts in after he lifts his head up. He places his hand over mine. It tingles.
It's weird how things like this can give me tingles after we've been married for four months. Not that I'm complaining. It's a good thing that he still has this effect on me, but I do find it weird.
"We can start presents when mom and dad arrive, okay?" I announce in question form. Jay nods his head as one of his hands roam to my side.
With his other hand, the one he has over mine, he moves both our hands to lay down the knife. He places both his hands on my waist and twirls me around.
