18. I thought your mom said you two hated each other

"What did we say about prank wars?" Adan asks us in a stern voice. Both Alesso and I look at him in defeat.

"And yet again both of you didn't listen to us. And if you started one at home, but at school! Are the both of you crazy?" Grandma takes over from him crossing her arms over her chest. "Don't you dare nod!" She adds as she sees the anticipation in my eyes.

Okay, so maybe I should catch you up.

Today felt like an amazing day to pull a prank on my cousin. So, I might have put a sack of flour in his locker. When he opened it, all of the flour might have ended up on himself. I also might have been watching from the sidelines with a bucket of water in my hands and I might have thrown that water on my already-with-flour-covered cousin.

Of course, Aless being the complicated person he is, he had to get revenge. So, when I opened my locker between classes a whole bucket of with-paint-filled balloons fell right on my head. The little asshole I call my cousin had pulled the same prank, but with paint.

If only he were original.

These were only the start of a day full of pranks. Eventually, the school thought we were taking it too far and had called Adan and Grandma.

I really wanted to scream at the person who had decided this, because if this is going too far, I don't know what this certain person would call our usual prank wars. I think it comes awfully close to 'world war III' or something like that.

"Uh, grandma?" I decide to speak up. The woman immediately glares at me, but motions for me to keep on talking. "Can we do this when I'm wearing dry clothes?" I ask her motioning to my outfit. "And when we're not standing in the middle of the hallway where the whole school can watch?"

Had I mentioned that both Aless and I are completely drenched in water?

Oh, and that we are getting a speech in front of the whole school?

You gotta love the parentals.

"Fine, but you're going home with Aless. I don't want you in my car like this," she tells me pointing to my wet body. "See you at home buddy," uncle Adan tells Aless. It's a clear sign that when he drops me off he needs to go immediately home.

"I can't believe I have to bring your wet ass home first," Aless whines as we walk towards his car. "And who's fault is it that I'm wet?" I ask him with sass in my voice. He rolls his eyes just as we reach his car.

We don't say anything while Alesso drives me home. It's not an awkward silence though, it's never an awkward silence with Aless. We just sit there. Aless's eyes focused on the road, while I'm watching the landscape pass.

While I'm looking at the landscape my mind starts running. I've been here for two weeks now. Everything has been well so far.

Most people in school know that Shawn Mendes is my father now just like in the beginning, but they don't judge me anymore for it. There are also no more people that want to be my friend because of it.

Kevin calls me every day, sometimes just a normal phone call and sometimes a video call, but he does call every day. It surprises me how easy it is to be so far away from my twin brother.

Yes, of course, I miss him. I miss him like hell, but it's not like I'm totally miserable without him. Maybe it helps that I have Aless here with me and of course my grandparents. They make this place feel close to home.

Although I can't wait to go back to Los Angeles. I never thought I would say it, but I miss it there. Mostly just the people there.

"We're here," Aless pulls me out of my thoughts. I shake my head to clear my head of what I was thinking. "Thanks," I mutter at him before I get out of the car. Before I even set my foot on the pavement, grandma opens the door and steps out.
