"I can't believe this is actually happening," I mutter under my breath. I've been waiting for this day for years and it has finally come.
I can't believe how long I've been waiting for this day. Of course, when I was just a kid this day was an impossible dream. When I was a teenager, it also seemed like an impossible dream, but there was a closer possibility it might come true. And now, when I'm in my twenties that dream actually came true.
The one person I always wanted is finally becoming legally mine.
"Are you ready for it?" My dad asks me. "I've been ready for years," I answer with a proud grin. "That's overexaggerating," my brother tells me.
"I actually don't think it is," my father disagrees. "These two were made for each other. They've been lost for each other for a very long time, even though they didn't realize it at most times."
I roll my eyes. Yes, I've been lost for a long time, but it's not been that long. We were just friends for a long time as well.
Anyway, if you haven't caught up yet. Today I'm getting married. Today, we're getting married. Today, I finally get to marry the love of my life. God, I've been waiting for this day for such a long time.
I can't wait to start the rest of my life. I'm not kidding, it genuinely feels that my life starts after this day. It's like all this time I've been moving towards this day and now I finally get to marry the love of my life and my life can finally begin.
Both of us suffered a lot of pain. We've had our ups and downs, on our own, but also together. Our relationship, of course, isn't perfect. It's never been perfect. I never expected it to be, but we've gotten over it together. After a fight, we always kissed and made up. It's how we did it. It's how we worked. It's how we'll work until the end of time.
"It's almost time. Are you ready?" Kevin comes into the dressing room with a big smile. "I've been ready for years, Kev," I tell him honestly. I look into the mirror locking my eyes with his.
"This day is going to be the most important day of my life," I say with a sigh. A happy sigh. I can't wait to stand there. I can't wait to say my vows. I can't wait to be husband and wife.
God, I sound like such a girl right now.
"Mr. Dallas, it's time for you to get into place," our wedding planner tells me. I give the woman a big smile. "I can't wait," I say with a huge smile on my face.
"Jayden," a deep voice behind me says. I turn around to find the one and only Shawn Mendes. My very-soon-to-be-father-in-law. "Shawn," I answer turning around to face him. "Don't disappoint her. Don't hurt--"
"Don't hurt her. Always take care of her. Make her feel like the most important woman in the world and always love her," I finish cutting him off. I know I probably shouldn't cut off the man who's going to be my father-in-law, but I'll take my chances.
"Don't ever forget that," Shawn tells me with a stern voice. "I won't. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me. I won't mess this up," I tell him honestly.
"You better not," he threatens me. "I won't," I conclude. "She owns my heart, Shawn. Nothing will ever change that." The older man gives me a broad smile. He walks over to me and gives me a pat on my shoulder.
"My daughter couldn't have chosen a better man to marry. I know it might be a little late, but I trust you with her heart. Don't let me down young Dallas," he says and before I get a chance to say anything he leaves.
I don't get a lot of chance to think about anything else either because I get ushered to my place at the altar.
I can't believe this day is finally here.
