22. I ruined our whole date

I couldn't sleep the whole week. I was obsessively counting down to my date with Jay. Sunday, was the most terrible. I was running all these different scenarios in my head. Not only had I replayed our kiss over and over again. I had also played all the scenarios of what would happen after all this. What would happen the next day in school? Would it be awkward?

Luckily, Jay didn't make it awkward the next day in school. He hadn't even talked to me about the kiss or our date, but he had been throwing me knowing glances. He had been doing that all week. He even kissed me on my cheek a couple of times when he said goodbye.

Of course, I had told Liv all about our time on the beach. She had squealed when I told her that Jay had asked me out on a date. I told her that there's a possibility, it couldn't really mean anything. That he felt obligated to ask me out after the whole kiss thing.

She had immediately scolded me on my insecurities because everyone knows he has feelings for me. I had rolled my eyes which made her hit me.

"You should wear this," Liv tells me holding up an awfully pink skirt.

It's Friday and Jay is coming to pick me up for our date in three hours. Like half an hour ago, Liv had grabbed my hand and had pulled me towards her room. She immediately jumped into her closet and now she's pulling out all these clothes.

I stare from the skirt to her while I throw her a disgusted look. I don't even know why the girl thinks I need three hours to get ready.

"I'm okay with wearing a skirt or a dress, but I'm not going to wear that. Whatever that may be," I tell her pointing at that awful skirt.

"Why would she wear a skirt or dress at all? Why can't she just wear something she normally wouldn't?" I turn my head towards my mother who stands in the doorway of Liv's room.

"Are you crazy Alli? Your daughter is going on her first date with the guy she's destined to be with and you want her to wear something normal?" Aunt Megan appears beside her wearing a frown on her face. Liv is definitely a lot like her mother.

"The guy I'm destined to be with?" I ask them furrowing my eyebrows together in question. I don't even ask them how they know about my date, because I know Liv spilled the beans as soon as she came home and my mom and aunt Megan share everything.

"Yes!" All three women in the room exclaim. I shake my head while I try to walk out of the door, but I get stopped by my aunt and mother.

"What about this?" I hear Liv asks behind me. I roll my eyes while aunt Megan's and mom's eyes widen. "That's perfect!" They exclaim in unison. I swear. They are the scariest twins I have ever met. And that comes from a girl who has a twin herself.

I turn my head around to see my cousin holding a beautiful black skater dress. My eyes widen as Liv walks closer to me with the dress in her hands. It's indeed perfect.

"If you match that with one of your flannels. If you wrap it around your waist, it's totally you," aunt Megan says while she walks over to Liv's closet. No wonder this woman's husband lets her pick all his outfits for photo shoots.

Aunt Megan has always been a stay-at-home mom. Uncle Hayes always thought that there should at least someone be home for Liv.

Especially, when she was younger. At that time Uncle Hayes was barely at home, which he obviously despised, but to compromise aunt, Megan stayed at home and in school vacations her and Liv would go with uncle Hayes to wherever he would go for his job.

Now Liv is older, aunt Megan has a part-time job in fashion. She puts together suitable outfits for models at runways or photo shoots and sometimes she helps design clothes.
