"I'm going to miss you so so much," Kevin says as he's squeezing me to death in what he calls a hug.

"Can't. breath," I manage to get out, uncomfortably patting his back. He lets go of me with a slight guilty look on his face.

"Hey Kev. I won't die, okay? Remember that. I will come back and I'll keep you updated," I reassure my brother. He nods with a pouty face.

"I'll keep you updated too," he whispers before he gives me a kiss inbetween my eybrows.

I turn over to where my best friends stand. I tackle Liv into a hug. "Take care of Kevin for me okay? I need you to make sure he won't go crazy," I tell her in the hug. I feel her chuckle in my shoulder.

"I will. You take care of yourself, okay? Don't be a stranger," she whispers back. I nod before we pull away from the hug.

I turn over to Jay beside Liv. "You," I point at him in an intimidating matter.

"If something happens to my brother, I'll hold you responsible," I threaten him. Jay chuckles before he nods.

"Don't worry Lee Lee. I'll take care of your family if you take care of yourself okay?" I nod my head at him.

"I'm serious Kailee. Please, take care of yourself and don't forget us," he whispers the last part.

"Don't forget me," he whispers even softer. I can barely hear him, but somehow I know what he said.

"I won't," I whisper back before I also envelop him in a hug. I don't know what I'm doing at that moment. I hadn't planned a hug like this.

Yes, I mean, Jay and I have been closer lately. At least he doesn't tease me anymore, but it's not like we are best friends now. I hadn't even expected him to be here. I said goodbye to everyone yesterday. With everyone I mean my aunt, uncles, all their children, and my friends.

I had even said goodbye to Jay, but he was here this morning. I don't know why and I don't really care, because the feeling of Jay's strong arms around me is so good.  It feels so safe. I feel so protected.

"Don't be a stranger. I want to know what's going in your life," he whispers as he pulls away from me.

"Of course," I say. Over his shoulder I see my parents waiting for me to say goodbye to them.

It's almost time for me to board my plane. Without thinking I press my lips against his cheek and immediately walk over to my parents.

"This will be good for you sweetie," my mom says as she sees me approach her.

"I know mom. I just don't want to leave everybody." I bury my head in her neck as tears are starting to stream down my face.

I feel my father's strong arms wrap around us. It immediately makes me feel safe and it makes me cry even more because I won't have this for three months. I won't have my family for three months.

"Flight to Toronto, Canada boarding now," the intercom lady tells us. I gulp, this is the moment. I take my guitar case from the floor.

"You know, there's still a guitar in my room. You don't have to take this one," my father comments as he sees me picking up my guitar.

"But I want this one," I tell him matter of factly. I got the guitar for Christmas when I was fourteen.

It's a real simple guitar, but I got it from my grandfather Lancaster. He never really gave any presents related to music. This was the first time.

He looked so happy when I opened the present with a smile. It's my favorite guitar in the whole Mendes household.

I won't leave it with my father. That won't do his reputation with grandfather good. Especially when he's going to write on it.
