"Dad, this is amazing!" I exclaim as I stare at the crowd in front of the stage with my camera in my hands. "Can I please get out and make pictures of you from the crowd inside the crowd?" I ask him with hope jumping from foot to foot. Dad looks at me and then looks at mom. She immediately shakes her head rubbing her pregnant belly.
"Please mom," I beg. "I'll take Kevin with me." I point at my brother who's currently occupied with his phone. "Fine," she eventually gives in when I give her puppy dog eyes.
No one can resist my puppy dog eyes.
No one I tell you.
"But you both take your passes and bury those underneath your shirts. If I even hear of the two of you losing each other, you will both be in big problems," she threatens. I nod my head, before I take Kevin's hand and slur him out of the backstage area.
"You do know we're going to get caught by the fans right?" Kevin asks me chuckling. "Apparently, mom doesn't know," I answer with sass in my voice. I grab his hand and pull him to the front.
From my long, experience I've learned that if you want a good spot at a concert, you need to stand at the side and from there you can walk as far to the front as you want because most times that's possible.
Eventually, Kevin and I make it to the front. I make pictures of the empty stage and the excited crowd. "Uhm, miss?" A security guard taps my shoulder and I turn around.
"You are not allowed to make specific pictures of the crowd," the young security tells me not all that confident. I get out my card which gives me permission to take pictures. because nowadays you're not allowed to take pictures of random people.
"It's okay," I tell him showing him the photography-permission-card. The security guard immediately apologizes and turns back to his job.
"Oh my god! It's Kailee and Kevin Mendes!" A voice from the crowd exclaims. Instantly, most of the heads turn our way. Kevin and I face each other with frightened faces while the faces of the crowd are rather excited.
"Told you so," Kevin mutters when I take his hand. "Just run!" I scream at him.
We both run towards the nearest entrance of the backstage area. On the way, we get our backstage passes out. We flash them to the security guard and luckily, he let us through immediately.
"That was crazy," I exclaim with a big smile on my face. "Why do I even agree to go with you every single time?" Kevin mutters shaking his head.
In case you're wondering, for the past couple of weeks we've been traveling through America from festival to festival and at every single festival I slurred Kevin out into the crowd and we got caught every single time.
"Because you love me," I cooe at him ruffling his hair. "I hate you," Kevin deadpans me trying to get his hair back in the model. Just as he gets it all back, I ruffle his hair again and before he can do anything, I run away.
"Hey, you're already back?" Mom asks rubbing her belly as she has a confused look on her face. "We got mobbed," I tell her shrugging. Mom opens her mouth to say something, but I'm already gone to dad's changing room.
"Hey, dad! I just wanted to say good luck," I tell him. Dad turns around with a wide smile. "I don't need luck as long as I have my family," he tells me wrapping his arms around me.
"You're such a cliche, dad," I chuckle in his chest. Dad tightens his grip around me chuckling as well.
"Shawn, time to go." Dad lets go of me and runs out of the changing room. I run after him to the stage where I take my place beside my brother and my mother to watch from the side.
