I spend the next five hours being poked with needles, swallowing pills, and being questioned by psychiatrists. George spends the entire time outside the locked door, biting his nails. Ringo, John, and Paul take turns stopping by, offering George food or tea, siting with him while he anxiously waits for someone to come out from behind the closed door. He refuses everything. Only wanting to know what's happening on the other side of the door. When doctors finally emerge, George jumps up.
"Well??" He says anxiously.
"You got to her just barely." A doctor begins.
"Had you waited even one more day, her body would have shut down completely. Because of malnutrition and all the beatings, her organs are so damaged, they are barely functional. And she will need lots of therapy. She's very mentally unstable right now." Tears fall down George's face
"Oh god." He breathes.
"We request, rather demand she be in isolation for at least a few weeks. She's very jumpy, scared of everything and everyone. It took the nurse fifteen minutes to hold her still long enough to get her IV needle in. She's in a very dark place right now." Another doctor continues.
"She will take a very long time to heal and we are unsure if it will be fully successful. Are you sure this is something you want? I will be honest, she will be a lot to deal with. A lot more than you have the time for George." The first psychologist says. George looks at my closed door. He doesn't say anything for a minute. He then looks at the doctors.
"May I?" He asks. They nod their heads in agreement, stepping out of the way. George turns the knob. His heart falls at the sight of me; my little body laying in a massive bed, surrounded by chords and beeping monitors.
"Hey." He says quietly and I open my eyes. I don't say anything. I'm so scared right now.
"Easy easy." He says holding out his hands to calm me when the heart beat monitor starts beeping faster and faster. I try to take deep breaths. I open and shut my eyes. I want to get out of this, but I don't know where I want to wake up. I'm scared so so sca- my thoughts are interrupted by George's touch. I feel the heat from his hands on my arm. I look up and see him crying.
"I was so worried." He whispered. I begin to cry, surprised at how much someone could care about me, of all people. I reach my other arm up and rest my hand on his cheek. He closes his eyes and leans into it. We stay like that for a long while before there's a knock at the door. George gets up and introduces us before following Ringo out of the room.
George walks out to the other three guys.
"George, we leave tomorrow. Are you really going to do this? That girl in there looks scared shitless. You are the one thing she's sure of... Well more sure of than anything else in her life right now. And you are gonna up and leave her? You can't stay behind. We just hit it big and we won't be continuing on without you." Ringo says.
"Yeah." John and Paul agree. George sighs as he rubs his neck.
"I don't know what I'm going to do. It's not like I can bring her. She's in no condition to go anywhere." He says. The guys all nod to one of George's housekeepers as she walks by.
"Hello Ms. Judy." Paul says. She says hello before knocking and stepping into my room with a heaping, steaming bowl of her famous homemade soup.
"Mmm." John says.
"Knowing her, there's more downstairs." George said and John and Paul run off to the kitchen.
"Figure it out man. But one thing's for sure. You ain't staying behind." Ringo says before going in search of some soup. George sighs.
