George's POV

Miss Judy had heard me crying and came to find me, clutching Kara in my arms. She immediately phoned my mother, who arrived within the hour.

Mum helped me out of bed and to let go of my darling Kara. She threw me into a shower where I stood under the pressure of the heat and cried. I was still crying when I got out.

Kara wasn't here any more.

I sat on the bed and continued to bawl. My mum came in and slapped my face. I put my hand to my cheek, stunned.

"Wha-?"

"You have for to pull it together right NOW!" She whispered sternly.

I wondered why but my question was answered when I saw Allison peek her little head in.

"Hi sweetie." I say, quickly rub my eyes as free of tears as I can.

"Where's Mommy?" She asks, pointing to Kara's side of the bed.

After being used to always seeing Kara in bed, Allison was probably startled to not see her there.

I stand and go over to Alli. I squat in front of her and hold her hands.

"Mommy has gone away." I say as strongly as I can.

"But... But where'd she go?" Allison asks, bewildered.

I swallow my tears.

"Mommy's gone to heaven."

"Oh. When is she coming back?"

"She... She won't be coming back baby." I whisper.

Allison looks to the floor.

"Mommy goes bye bye?" She mumbles, eyes still to the floor.

Tears form in my eyes.

"That's right."

"For... forever?" She asks, looking up into my eyes.

I nod my head slowly.

Allison's eyes begin to water.

"Oh baby. Come here." I grab her and hold her in my arms.

She wraps her arms tightly around my neck. I stroke her back as we both cry. For as young as she is, I've myself quite an intelligent daughter.

We stay like that for a long while.

When I finally begin to pull back, I take Allison with me as I stand. I wipe her cheeks and kiss them.

"It's you and me now baby." I say quietly.

"Just you and me." I say, more to myself than Alli.
