George's POV

I wake at the first light that breaks through the curtains. Kara slept in my arms last night. Words cannot describe how wonderful that felt. I sit up slowly, careful not to wake her. I stare down at Kara as she continues to dream. Her breaths, slow and deep, her hair all messy on the pillow, her eyes fluttering, god she's so beautiful. I lean down and kiss her cheek. She stirs slightly but doesn't wake. I maneuver my arm out from under her. I grab my robe and make my way downstairs to where Miss Judy is already busy preparing breakfast. When I reached the kitchen I found Miss Judy at the table eating toast and beans and reading the newspaper.

"Morning Miss Judy." I say to her. She looks up and smiles.

"Good morning George. Hope you slept well. I was going to fix breakfast for the two of you but I thought you might like to make Miss Kara her breakfast yourself." She said. I grinned at her.

"You know me so well." I said as I moved past her and opened the fridge. She smiles and goes back to reading the paper.

"Anything good today?" I shout to her.

"Oh just the usual. You and the boys page after page." She says. I let out a sigh.

"Always is." I hum to myself as I fix up some eggs and pour two glasses of orange juice. I am just putting bread in the toaster Miss Judy walks in. She's quiet for a moment, watching as I put a flower in a small vase. I look at her watching me.

"Hmm?" I asked.

"When?" Was all she said. She didn't have to say more. I knew exactly what she was talking about.

"Tonight. I am going to take her out to a nice dinner." She breaks into a big smile and walks over, wrapping her arms around me. She leaves the kitchen. Once I'm finished, I put all the food on a tray and walk it upstairs.

"Morning sunshine." I say as I walk into my room. I see Kara sitting on the bench seat under the window, looking outside. She's wearing one of my shirts. She must have put it on while I was downstairs. She looks so much better in it than I ever did.

"They're so beautiful." She says quietly. I set the tray down on my dresser and walk over to her. I rest my hands on her shoulders and look out to see she's watching two robins dancing around the birdhouse I had set up while she was in the hospital.

"You know what else is beautiful?" I ask. She doesn't say anything. I lean down and kiss her cheek. I feel her smile. She turns and wraps her arms around my neck. I hold her tight, inhaling the scent of her hair. Pineapple. She pulls back and stands up. She looks at the tray of food, her eyes glistening at the heaping plates. I chuckle.

"Hungry babe?" I ask. She doesn't answer, walking over to the tray and putting it on the bed. She sits and pats the spot next to her. I join her on the bed. We chat while we eat. She eats so much of the food. I love the fact that she's not nervous to eat in front of me. I hand her my last biscuit and she quickly gobbles it down. When all the food has been finished I put the tray on the floor. Kara leans back on the pillow. I lay back next to her. We sit in quiet for a couple of minutes.

"So." I say, finally breaking the silence. Kara turns her head to look at me.

"I've been receiving endless calls from my cousin about meeting you." I see Kara's face start to bunch.

"No no no no. Baby. I see what you're starting to think. It's not that way. She's my closest cousin. She wouldn't do anything embarrassing or hurtful. She's one of my best friends. I will tell her not to come if you don't want her to but I know she really does. I was thinking she could take you out shopping for a nice outfit. And since no one knows what you look like and no one knows her, you two shouldn't have a problem!" I saw Kara's face start to light up.

"Okay. I'll do it." I smiled and got up to get the phone. I dialed my cousin's telephone number and told her to come on over. She squealed with excitement and said she'd be on her way.

Kara's POV

Although I necessarily didn't want to go out with George's cousin - or out at all - I saw how excited he got about her and I meeting I just couldn't say no. His face lit up so brightly when I said I would. He was in the shower now, I had taken mine first. I was changing into a pair of jeans and a sweater. It was a chilly outside today. The sweater was something George had picked out. It was a light pink cashmere and soft and warm and I loved it so much.

I heard the water shut off and there was a moment of silence. George walked out with only a towel wrapped around his waist. His hair dripping, his chest smooth and muscular.. It was all I could but stare at his sculpted back as he passed me and walked to his closet. George and I had never done anything more than kiss because I wasn't ready yet and he was very respectful of that but damn. He emerged a couple minutes later dressed in dark jeans and a gray and white stripped sweater.

"You look so handsome." I said, walking over to him. He blushed.

"I'm not wearing anything special." He said. I ran my hands up and down his chest.

"That doesn't change the fact." I said. I stood on my tiptoes and closed my eyes. His lips were so soft against mine. I felt his hands move to my hips. As I wrapped my arms around his neck, he began to runs his hands over my body. The feeling was rushing and exciting. When he started to reach under my top though, I panicked and pulled away. George stayed standing as if I were still in his arms.

"Sorry." I mumbled.

"I'm sorry. I want to be ready but I'm just not. I know you must hate this but I just... I can't." I said. I couldn't look at him as I spoke for fear of his facial reaction to my words.

"Kara.." He started.

"I don't care. When you're ready, we'll do it. Not a moment earlier. The last thing I want is you to be uncomfortable. When you're ready, I'll be here. But for now.." He trailed off as he leaned his head down and kissed me gently.

Just then the doorbell rang. We heard Miss Judy answer the door.

"Ah Miss Jill! So lovely to see you again my dear."

"Yes Miss Judy! It's been far too long." Jill said. I'm assuming Jill is George's cousin because he got all excited when he heard her voice.

"Come on, babe!" He said, rushing out the door and down the stairs. I heard excitement as George and Jill see each other. I wait a few moments before taking a deep breath and starting down the stairs.
