George's POV
"So??" Jill asked anxiously. Kara still hadn't come down yet so Jill, Miss Judy and I were in the kitchen.
"Tonight." Miss Judy announces as she pours tea.
"Oh my god! George!" Jill squeals.
"That's so great!"
"Yeah." I say. I stir a sugar cube into my tea, stalling.
"What is it?" Jill asks.
"Oh nothing." I say. I look up and find Jill giving me a stare.
"I know when you're lying to me, George." She said.
"I'm just nervous is all. I mean, none of my family has met her. What if my parents don't like her? What if she doesn't like them? What if you don't like her? What if-"
"George!" Jill interrupts.
"Stop it. You need to stop freaking out. She's already met Miss Judy and... Miss Judy? Your opinion?" Jill and I turn to Miss Judy. She opens her mouth.
"Well I have not a single bad thing to say. She's an incredible, beautiful, shining young woman. Though you may not see it, she's already changed you into an even better young man. I adore her. I can see how much you love her and I see how much she loves you. I could not pair you with a better woman. And since I consider us family..." She trailed off.
"Wow." I said.
"I guess I miss a lot." I look down at my tea, getting cold.
"I'm terrible. I'm a terrible person. Here this great girl is and I spend all of ten days with her every month."
"George. You can't do that to yourself." Jill said, leaning across the table and resting her hand on my arm.
"You have already given her so much. And it's not like you're leaving her to dust when you go on tour. You're leaving her in excellent hands. We all know your parents are going to love her. You just need to do this already." I sigh, they're right, of course.
Kara's POV
I smile as I listen in. Sure, I may be eavesdropping but I couldn't help myself. I blush at Miss Judy's kind words. When there is a lull in the conversation I step into the doorway.
"Hey beautiful." George says, standing. Miss Judy gets up to pour me a cup of tea. Jill stands as George introduces us. She's gorgeous. With her flowy brown hair and light blue eyes. She had a warm smile on her face as she said hello.
"Oh my gosh you're just as pretty as George described!" She said. I blush and glance at George. He places his hand on the small of my back and guides me to the chair next to his. We all sit and Miss Judy comes around with a steaming cup of tea, placing it in front of me. She pats my back as she returns to her seat. George puts his hand on my thigh as conversation starts flowing. They discuss clothing stores as I sip my tea, quietly observing. I only shopped at the single discount store in town so all these fancy named places were foreign to me.
Eventually some sort of decision was made because everyone started to stand. George reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. He grabbed a handful of bills and handed them to his cousin. She refused adamantly, but George kept persisting. Finally she took them and thanked George. Jill started walking to the front door. George grabbed my hand and kissed me.
"You'll have fun I just know it." He said with a smile. I grinned back at him. For a minute the two of us just stood there staring at each other. George reached up and pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.
"I love you Kara." I blushed and smiled.
"I love you too George." I said. I hugged him tight.
"Coming?" Jill shouted. The two of us laughed and made our way to the front door. I gave George a peck on the cheek and turned to follow Jill down the front steps and into her car. Once I'm settled in the front seat Jill starts the car. I look up and find George still standing at the front door. He waved and I waved back. We kept waving at each other all the way until Jill turned out of George's drive. She picked up speed.
"I'm so excited. Today is going to be so much fun!" Jill said. I smiled a little, unsure of the upcoming events. Jill must have figured we wouldn't be doing much talking because she turned on some music, that being the only sound until we reached the downtown shops.
