It's been almost two months since George's seen me. I'm much stronger, able to eat certain solid foods too. I am still weak but in a much better spot than I was two months ago. It's a surprisingly nice day outside and Judy helped me slip on a beautiful soft pink dress. She walked me to the front porch and sat me on one of the rocking chairs. She had put extra padding on it. She placed a big sunhat on my head before leaving me alone to await George's arrival.
His palms are sweaty as the car pulls into his drive. George's heart races when he sees me in the chair. He jumps out of the car before it even stops and runs up to me. I'm still not strong enough to stand up without help but that doesn't stop George. He lifts me out of the chair and holds me. He kisses me probably a million times while saying how much he missed me.
When he sets me down, Judy comes out. She gives George a big hug before asking his to step inside a moment. George sets me gently back in the chair. Judy follows him inside where he's greeted by the doctors and psychologists once again.
"She's done remarkably well." One said.
"We think it has to do with a few things. A) The medicine we've been giving her B) the wonderful undivided attention from Ms. Judy here and C) you." Another doctor says. The psychologist jumps in.
"We think her watching you, hearing your voice, receiving the letters you wrote, we think that all has attributed. Never in my 57 years have I seen someone this severe recover at this quick of a pace. Now don't get me wrong, she still has a long way to go." George breaks into a smile.
"Well I'm off for a bit. We have a nice break before we leave again. Ms. Judy, you can take time off if you'd like, you've been just wonderful." Judy looks to George,
"I've come to love that young woman. So I'd like to stay, just oversee things if you don't mind." She said. George nodded his head.
"Of course. Thank you." He shakes each doctor's hand.
"Now if you'll excuse me. I have a future wife to attend to." Judy's mouth dropped.
"What?!" She exclaims. George smiled mischievously.
"I can already tell there isn't anyone else I want to be with. I loved her the moment I laid eyes on her and I plan to never let her go." Judy breaks into a grin and gives George a hug, wiping a tear from her eye.
"Go." She whispers. George turns and walks to the door. He watched me for a few minutes before opening the door. I turn.
"Hey." He says, grinning.
"Hi." I smile back. He sits next to me and grabs my hand, lightly stroking my thumb with his. We sit like that until the sun goes down.
