Chapter 4: Earning Trust

Kihara Fuyumi’s POV

It’s already been a week and Chizuru and I are still under surveillance by the Shinsengumi, but the thing that actually irritates me is apart that we were in room arrest is we can’t really go outside the compound yet, I know Chizuru is also irritated by that fact we can’t also search for Kodo, the both of us could only talk to each other to ease our annoyance, Hijikata also told us to lay low and he also told Chizuru that she needs to keep dressing as a boy since they really don’t want a woman running around there headquarters, if rumors were to spread that the Shinsengumi were keeping a woman in their compound, tongues would begin to wag, Chizuru didn’t really want to continue dressing as a boy but she has no choice or she would be kicked out…as for me he told me that there wasn’t really a problem with me I just need to keep my scarf on my neck that’s all since my bearing was already a disgust itself, Sanan also told us that if there men would know the presence of a woman it could disrupt morale, although I actually disagree with that since the army I lead in the Kihara Manor  was all for the idea having a female demon Vice-commander in the army it boosted the morale over 101% but of course I gave them hell, I was a true demon Vice-commander in my army anyone who looks down or disrespects me experienced true hell on earth. Sanan told us that the only ones that will know of our true gender would be the captains of the Shinsengumi, Chizuru wanted to help but she was turned down, although Souji did say that they decided that we would be a certain someone’s page, Hijikata shot a glare at Souji when he said that he reprimanded him afterwards threatening him that he would cut Souji’s tongue off.

“We don’t have any real choice but to stay here” Chizuru spoke looking bored

“Bored?” I snickered, she sighs looking at her Kodachi

“Your kodachi has been passed down in the Yukimura Clan for quite some time now” I commented

“You know?” she says surprised

“Of course” I said having a knowing smirk

“You really know more about me than myself” she says sighing “Can you…?” She trails off

“Can I tell you the story about yourself and your Clan?” A playful smirk played on my lips “I’ll tell you more in the right time and place” I said to her, she puffs her cheeks looking annoyed at me “Hahaha” I laughed at her cute expression

“You always laugh at me like that” I pinched her cheeks

“Because you’re so cute” I complimented, she looks away embarrassed “But…” I spaced out “I notice the other soldiers are treating us coldly since we get special treatment from the Shinsengumi” I said to her “I’m sorry if I always spoke for you Chizuru” I apologized “I don’t really want them to be suspicious of you since your demeanor is too obvious…” I honestly said “And it also saves me the trouble of keeping you away from trouble” I told her

“I understand…” he says dejectedly “But it does annoy me a little that I am too girly” She says annoyed with herself “Fuyumi-chan!” She says with pleading eyes “Can you teach me how to be stiff and behave like a boy?” she innocently asked, I couldn’t stifle my chuckle I placed a hand on her head and looked at her straight in the eye

“You don’t have to change yourself to please others Chizuru” I told her “Your fine the way you are, I behave like this for a reason” I paused remembering all the things that I've went through when I was a child “It’s not that I don’t want to teach you it’s just that…” I trailed off then sighed “I don’t want to teach you the things that made me suffer when I was little” her eyes widen “I don’t want you to experience the things I’ve been through, so please understand…” I pleaded
