CHAPTER 10: The Water of Life

Kihara Fuyumi POV

I gave out a frustrated sigh, Chizuru and I stayed here in the Shinsengumi for over a year now, I couldn’t investigate the compound without Souji following me around to label me a threat, although I did lay low for a while and he isn’t following me as much as before but I still need to be cautious I don’t want anyone to know what my mission is.

“Dammit!” I stabbed the defenseless tree in front of me venting my anger on it, I was carving a horse at first to keep me occupied from my thoughts but it resurfaced from my mind which made me more frustrated the fact that I’m not getting anywhere and couldn’t report anything back

“Kihara” I stabbed so hard that my knife lodged deep from the tree

“Shit…” I cursed under my breath trying to pull it out

“There is no need to vent your anger at the innocent tree” Saito comes forward of course I knew he was there the whole time watching me though I just ignored him “Why are you so frustrated Kihara?” he questions, did I mention Saito was also watching me? Well apparently Hijikata assigned not only Souji and Yamazaki but Saito too, although he was very careful that I wouldn’t notice he failed, only last week that I noticed his energy following me around when I thought the coast was clear to investigate, he was far away but even if he was fifty kilometers away from me I still would know but I have to give him credit I had only known that Souji and Yamanaki was the one who was watching me up until now, seems like they were distracting me.

“If I wouldn’t vent my anger in a non-human then would you care to explain who should I direct my anger too?” my eyes trailed his form in front of me he looked away “and besides” I gave up pulling my knife “It’s none of your business why I’m frustrated Saito-san” I coldly said his brow twitched ever so slightly I was about to walk away when he suddenly stopped me I looked straight in his blue eyes

“I suggest you stop your actions Kihara for better or for worst” there was venom in his voice I relaxed my shoulders but my next action surprised him, with full force I grabbed the knife from the tree forcibly ripping it out.

“If that’s a threat Saito-san” I turned to look at him “Can you make it more plausible?” I challenged his hand was already on his sword and his grip on my arm is tightening

“There you are you two!” Heisuke’s voice came closer to us “Hijikata-san is looking for you, the meeting is going to start soon” Both of us didn’t budge from where we were standing our eyes interlocked at one another my knuckles were turning white holding the knife “Um…?” Heisuke sounded uncomfortable

“…” Saito was the first one to turn and walk away Heisuke gave way looking anxious at him

“Fuyumi-chan?” Heisuke turned to look at me

“Let’s go” I walked towards him, he nods and both of us went to the meeting hall

And did I also forget that there was a new member of the Shinsengumi? His name is Itou Kashitarou or as I’ve nicknamed him ‘pain in my ass’ I’ve had enough of the guys watching me but this one is bold he bombarded me with questions I ignored him and brushed him off though, I didn’t like Itou from his first appearance here, Heisuke brought him along when he was in Edo recruiting more men for the Shinsengumi, he smells of deceit and mockery I also see that he is a threat in short his a snake…for the Shinsengumi anyway...

“Here’s your tea Fuyumi-chan” Chizuru was handing out tea I gave her a faint smile

“You didn’t have too Chizuru” I patted her head she smiles at me and took her seat
