Chapter 28: Investigation

Shiranui Kyo POV

"Fuyumi get up" I shook her form while she groans, such a sleepy head "Come on princess the sun isn't going to wait for us" I said

"Hm..." She looks at me with sleepy eyes, I placed kisses on her face but it seems like she became immune to it, she just closes her eyes once again
"So that doesn't work on you anymore huh?" I tilted my head with a grin "Then..." I placed a hand on her cheeks and pinched her cheeks so hard that she jolted awake

"My cheeks!" She shouted

"Time to wake up princess" I kissed her forehead and stood up, she frowns at me and got up

"I'm going to go ahead and bathe" she rubs her cheeks and was about to exit the room when I teased

"I'll catch up with you in a bit" She turns around her eyes widening and her face getting all red, she then stormed out of the room

"She doesn't know that I already bathe...hehehe" I chuckled "But maybe next time I'll bathe with her..."

-OUTSIDE OF THE STABLES-

"Come on Shiranui-san" she got her horse again and beckoned me to hop on

"I'm more comfortable travelling on the trees though" I reasoned out "I mean we are demons and we have special skills and abilities for a reason...."

"Are you implying you don't want to ride Taro and with me?" She raises her brow

"I never said or even thought about that!" I told her "Stop saying things that I'm not saying or thinking" she rolls her eyes "Fine, I'll ride on your pet so that you won't get mad anymore" she glared at me with the intensity of the sun

"Taro is not a pet, he's family dumbass" She snarled "Apologize to him" she angrily said

"Er..." I looked at her horse who was also looking at me "I'm sorry...Taro" her face relaxes

"Don't ever say that Taro is a pet again" she advises "If you do, I'll cut your tongue out" she threatens with a smile, something is telling me that she's serious about what she said "Come on" she beckons, I finally ride her horse, I was at the back while she was at the front, she was the one reigning the horse
"HA!" She lashes the reign and Taro immediately runs, I quickly wrapped my arms around her waist, she stiffens at my touch, I contemplated if I would tease her but she looked so serious that I brushed the idea off

"Relax, Fuyumi" Was the only thing I said, she relaxes her body a little and I made her lean towards me so she's comfortable, I couldn't see her face but I know she's flustered, I directed her to go to the off beaten path which she did and as expected we got a view of Soldiers scattered around Koufu Castle, and not just regular human soldiers

"There in broad daylight..." I mentioned
"Smells like Kodo's doing alright..." I said "he was the only one who tampered with the water of life" she nods

"Enemy troops have been spotted!" I heard one of the soldiers shout

"Enemy troops?" She questioned "who would be dumb enough to attack a castle that is already occupied with this many soldiers?" she asked

"There's one thought that crosses my mind..." both of us look at each other, seems like she also thought the same thing "Come on, let's go see what happens next" she quietly tugs Taro's reign to the other direction, we distance ourselves as to not get spotted by the fakes, the trees were a nice cover for us "Fuyumi" I whispered in her ear which she responds "Let's get off here and walk by foot now" I told her she nods and halts her horse

"I'll come back for you in a little while Taro" she tells her horse before we moved forward.

I jumped to the trees in which she followed, we stop at the tallest tree and saw the scene in front of us, all hell already broke lose, the soldiers from Koufu attacked the enemy and it was already no surprise that it was the Shinsengumi, she gave a stern look
