Chapter 19: A fleeting moment

Kihara Fuyumi POV

A nightmare that keeps repeating over and over again, that demon in black always the one whispering a language that I don’t understand, while my body was bleeding. I just want this nightmare to end. But how?

“….” I felt my eyes open everything was blurry until my vision focused, I tried to get up but my body was telling me to lie down “Urgh…” I groaned in pain.

“Your finally awake” I froze at the voice, I was scared to look at who the owner of the voice is, I feel that if I look, I’m going to suffer so much…I feel hands that was about to reach me…

“Oi! Kihara” I felt strong hands shake me, I jumped and turned my head to the now familiar voice that called out

“S-Saito Hajime…” I said identifying him, he was taken aback at the sudden mention of his full name, my head was all fuzzy while I forced myself to sit up “What happened?” I asked him

“Shinpachi found you unconscious in front of the stable when he was passing by, he immediately carried you to your room and called Yamazaki-“

“Gh…” I was in sudden pain, my chest was the most painful of all. I felt my heart beating erratically

“Are you alright Kihara?!” Saito shouts, I shook my head looking down, my vision was beginning to blur yet again “I’ll call Yamazaki-” I cut him off by grabbing his sleeve

“Stop…!” I said to him in a pained voice “Yamazaki, going in our room would just be useless!” I explained to him “he doesn’t know how a demon’s body works Saito-san” he’s eyes widen at what I said then he nods and sits down again, my body is acting like this because of my lack of powers, call it magic deficiency, but I don’t recall having this kind of symptoms if one has magic deficiency…I felt my body collapse on my bed

“I think it’s best if you rest for now Kihara” Saito advises

“Wait…” he was about to stand up and leave but I stopped him “tell me what happened Saito-san…I don’t remember anything” I pleaded

“When Yamazaki came in your room, he immediately looked you over, but there was nothing wrong with you apart that, your nose is bleeding…” his story became a statement, he brought out a handkerchief and gave it to me to my surprise, that’s when I realize that my nose is bleeding, I wiped my nose and there was certainly blood, that was the reason why my head was fuzzy

“Sorry” I apologized “this is nothing contagious don’t worry” I reassured him

“After Yamazaki looked you over, he said that nothing was wrong with you, you just passed out of exhaustion” I was still in pain though “not just that, but your horse was also missing from the stable Kihara”

“Taro?!” I shot out from bed but immediately regretted it since pain coursed through my whole body, my body involuntarily trembled “Taro…” the whole room suddenly spun around. Then a soft object hit my head.

Yukimura Chizuru POV

“Yukimura” I turn around to see Saito and was also confused since he was supposed to look after Fuyumi-chan while I was doing my chores “Kihara woke up, but fainted right after” I panicked and was about to run back to our room when Saito blocked me

“Saito-san?!” I exclaimed surprised

“It is best to let her rest for the time being Yukimura, and I doubt that you can do anything to help her right now” he explains. It’s true that I can’t help her now, but I want to be with her when she wakes up, but Saito shakes his head, I felt disheartened…
A week later Fuyumi-chan slowly recovered from what happened to her, Nagakura-san found her unconscious in front of the stable, Yamazaki took a look at her but nothing was wrong he just said that she was exhausted, but her nose was bleeding at that time and she was also deathly pale, she is still pale but she’s regaining her normal complexion, the Captains think that the demon that was after her was the one who did that but other than speculations they don’t really know since Fuyumi herself told them that she doesn’t remember what happened to her.
