Chapter 6: Patrol

Kihara Fuyumi POV

MEETING HALL

Hijikata and Sanan returned and later that day Chizuru and I got called in the meeting hall, we entered to find Souji and Heisuke other than us already in the meeting hall

"Good Morning Okita-san, Heisuke-kun" Chizuru cheerfully greets.

"Good Morning" I said in a monotone voice greeting them as well, we
exchange greetings before Hijikata told us to seat down.

"You can leave the compound" He suddenly tells us to our surprise.

"R-Really?!" Chizuru beams

"You two would be accompanying whoever's on duty. You two will jump when they say jump and die when they say die. Are we clear?" I slightly snickered at what Hijikata said but contained it so that I wouldn't seem rude.

"Yes sir!" Chizuru excitedly replies, she's really itching to go outside, I can't blame her though I as well want to get out of this place.

"Souji. Heisuke. You're on patrol today, right?" Hijikata inquired

"Oh. I get it now. That's why you pulled us in here right?" his confused expression seems to fade away "I think it's going to be Souji's turn this time, though the 1st division's doing rounds today, isn't it?" Heisuke asked wanting confirmation

"Yes, Heisuke and the 8th are going out tonight, so I think he has a point. Both of them would be safe during the afternoon" Souji tells Hijikata, I tilt my head, but I don't really need protection now do I? Or is he just putting it nicely saying 'so that both of them wouldn't really run away?'
"Don't forget!" Souji turns to look at us "If you two try to run I'll kill you" Well I was expecting he'd say that but the option for that isn't available anymore so it's just a hollow threat "And if we get jumped by ronin, I'm not sticking around to pull both of your asses out of the fire, okay?" he smiles

"You don't have to worry" I said "It's my job to protect Chizuru so you can pretty much ignore both of us entirely when you fight" I informed him

"That's true. But Souji will still keep an eye on both of you." Hijikata firmly states

"We won't run away" Chizuru says with a serious look on her face "When we came here, we made a deal. I promised" Chizuru told them

"Well you but her" Hijikata trails his eyes on me

"I am here for her so if she stays here then I stay as well if she runs away I run away, but as you can see she isn't planning on running away so I won't either. Rest assured" I said making myself clear, Chizuru looked at me.

"We still can't fully trust you since you're a mystery to us. We don't know your background and we really don't know your entire purpose as to why you're following Yukimura and protecting her" Hijikata states

"That's not my problem if you think I'm a mystery and you can't place your trust on me" I said in a matter of fact "And it's my choice not to tell you, you can't really force me to say anything else since I can destroy you" I told him he raises his brow at me giving a questioning look "So it's useless, some things need to remain a mystery as the saying goes 'ignorance is bliss'" I quoted.

"You don't have to worry Hijikata-san if she pulls something behind our backs I'll make sure to immediately deal with it" Okita says having a piercing stare

"I find you, Okita-san and Yanazaki-san creeps" They were surprised at what I said "You want to know things so you stalk and eavesdrop on people." I told them "Do you even know the word boundaries?" I crossed my arms feigning worry "You want to know more about Chizuru and I especially me but as a girl I really find that creepy you know a girls secret shouldn't be known by men, if you have sisters they should understand how I feel about this, right Chizuru?" I said asking Chizuru beside me
