The day after Brandon arrived, I introduced him to Fiona and Eric. He seemed nervous at first, but he fit in perfectly with our little group. When Fiona first saw him, she gave me a look like 'Dang girl you scored' as if I was going to date him. But I don't think I see us dating. I only picture us as really good friends, so I gave her a look like 'He's all yours', which she was very pleased about.
"I'll pick you up in about twenty minutes," Brandon said in the voicemail he left me ten minutes ago. That jolted me awake, and I sprung out of my bed and got ready for school. For some reason my alarm clock didn't go off, which would be the reason why I'm falling behind. I looked outside, and it was a gloomy day, with wind whipping at the trees. I put on a big oversized tie dye sweatshirt with a pair of leggings and my pair of brown UGGS. I debated what to do with my hair, but gave up and just threw it into an effortless bun. I heard a knock on the door, and I sprinted down the stairs grabbing my back pack in the process.
My mom answered the door. "Well hello there Brandon! How are you?" She said bringing him into a hug. I introduced my mom to the 'new' Brandon the other day, and she was so happy. Although it's nice having his company, it just doesn't make up for Zander's absence. Suddenly I felt a wave of sadness rush through me. Oh how I miss talking to him. I don't understand what I did to make him mad at me.
"Are you ready Teag?" Brandon said calling me by the nickname he called when we were younger.
"I'm ready to go Brand." I said laughing.
He smiled, and we headed out to his car. It was a black Ford truck, that was extremely shiny.
"Wow! You love your car." I said admiring its beauty.
"She's my pride and joy." He said shrugging his shoulders. "Say hello to Rachel."
"You named your car Rachel." I stated, stifling a laugh.
"Yes. And if you want a ride I suggest you stop mocking me and get inside." He said pouting.
I laughed and got in. The ride to school was short, and I saw Fiona and Eric talking by the gate to school. I waved to them as we passed by to park, and they returned the favor.
"So I have cross country 'till five today, so you don't have to wait if you want. I think Fiona can give me a ride-" I started unbuckling myself.
"Relax Teag. I'm joining the football team, and practice doesn't end 'till five also." He said getting out of the car.
I followed him by example and got out. "K." We started walking towards Eric and Fiona when I remembered something. "Also, you should know something. We don't like Rebecca. Understood?"
"Okay. Why?" He questioned.
"Well...let's just say she's mean. And last week she tripped me and poured lemonade on my head in front of everyone in the cafeteria." I stated bluntly.
"What?!" He practically yelled. "Did you do anything back to her? You know, like get revenge?"
I have a feeling Brandon won't fall for Rebecca's charms like someone else I know. He's always been like a big brother to me, and something tells me that his 'big brother' instincts will kick in.
"Well no, but that's because I don't want to stoop down to her level." I said as we walked up to out little group.
"Hey!" Fiona said all happily.
Brandon and Eric soon began talking about Football, and Fiona and I engaged in our own conversation about our favorite fast foods.
"Who's this?" Said a voice interrupting us all. I nearly burst into flames when I matched the voice with the face.
