"10 days," he said.

He gave you 10 days.

"In 10 days I expect your answer," his words and his stern expression still burnt vividly in your mind.

Your thoughts wandered off and it wasn't until the waiter brought your order, you returned to reality.

It was impossible, you determined. There was no way you could level up a character in 10 days, especially since you never played Glory before! You were only part of the management team but suddenly Han Wenqing suggested that everyone who worked at Tyranny should at least know how to play Glory. So, you had to have at least a character that was max level.

Day 1:

"What are you doing?" Han Wenqing eyed you suspiciously while you sat awkwardly in front of the computer.

"I'm... I'm playing Glory!" you said with your eyes keenly fixed on the screen.

"Are you kidding me? You are still on the character selection page!" Wenqing raised his voice.

"Well... you know it's hard to choose a class!" you answered in defence and slowly turned around just to see Wenqing's stern expression.

"You know you can learn and try out skills from any classes before you reach level 20 and only then you have to choose."

"Oh..."

An hour later Wenqing came back: "Are you serious?"

"What?" you cautiously avoided looking at him, knowing the expression he would have.

"You still haven't begun the game! What the hell are you doing wasting time on creating your avatar?"

"It has to look nice!" you could feel Wenqing's angry stare on your back and a train of prickles ran down your back.

Another hour later:

"What are you doing now?"

"I'm... I'm getting used to moving the character!" you wanted to cry, couldn't he leave you alone? He was the captain of the pro team, why in the world would he have time to check up on you and make you nervous with his presence?

"It's just basically WASD keys! What's so hard to understand about it? How did you even get to work at Tyranny?"

"Hey!" you faced him, "just because I'm still new to playing Glory doesn't mean it says something about my abilities!"

"It does! It's already written in your face that you're unfit for Tyranny!"

He didn't have to be so honest about that!

Day 2

"I suppose as the captain you should be busier than to check up on a noob every single hour?" your eyebrow twitched lightly when you felt his presence behind you for the thousand times.

"And I suppose as a normal human being, you should be able to reach at least lvl 5 in a day but you're still lvl 1?" you could hear Wenqing mocking you.

You wanted to cough blood and smear it on his face.

"I'm slowly getting there! It takes a while!"

"Not as slow as you are!"

"Just leave me alone please, I have other things to worry about too!"

The next few days went the same, you showed no improvement for him to approve of and he constantly nagged and scolded you. There were a few times where you just wanted to burst in anger and slap him into the realisation that he was supposed to be training with the pro team instead of wasting your time with his unnecessary comments.

In the first place, the condition he gave you was impossible to fulfill! Even the pro players told you they needed weeks to level their characters to max! How in the world could a noob like you do it in 10 days? Was he messing with you? Why did the boss agree to this requirement? Were they trying to throw you out of Tyranny?

Finally, ten days were almost over, it was the last day and you reached level 20 and were ready to choose a class. Over the 10 days you were trying each class out to their fullest and realised that one of them was the one you wanted to play the most. You weren't able to reach your goal but you developed a love for Glory. You liked playing it, a lot.

"What are you doing here?"

Wenqing's voice scared you back to reality and you looked around. It was already dark.

"I'm levelling up like you said I should!"

"It's already midnight, and you're still playing? Go back and sleep!" Wenqing who stood in the door frame, started to approach you. You shrunk back intimidated.

"But I can still-"

"You think you can still level up? That's impossible, focus your attention on important things!" his serious eyes were illuminated by your computer screen.

"What are you saying? Isn't this important?" you looked at him, unable to read what he was thinking.

"If you don't go back to sleep, then... then you will be fired from Tyranny," his hand hit your desk and you jumped back in surprise.

"You can't fire me because I refuse to sleep! Watch me stay up all night!"

"You're only ruining your own body and health, why are you trying to pick a fight?"

"I'm not trying to, it's just.... It's just I can at least bring a better result tomorrow," you looked away from him. You didn't want to admit but his words saying you were unfit for Tyranny hurt you quite a bit.

"It was from the start obvious you wouldn't be able to meet the expectations," Wenqing's words stabbed you in your heart.

"I know that, but still... you don't have to say it that harshly."

"Well, what do you expect from someone who takes an hour to figure out how to move the character. Maybe you should've chosen another job," Wenqing moved closer to you and forced you to look at him.

"Don't touch me!" you slapped his hand away.

Wenqing glanced at the clock and said: "I told you didn't I? In ten days I expect your answer."

"The answer?" you were confused about his words.

"You didn't listen? How were you even able to work in Tyranny all this time?"

You were angry at his words, hurt and tired.

"Ah, is that so. If I'm that bad and useless then I can just leave, is that what you are trying to tell me?" you stood up, ready to go when he held you back.

"The condition was: either you are able to max lvl a character or you leave Tyranny."

"I know! The ten days are over aren't they? I lost, right?"

"Wrong, ten days were only the limit I gave you. The boss expected a month. So, I told you to give me an answer after 10 days. I give you 10 days to figure out Glory on your own and after the time limit ends you can choose to take my help or to do it on your own."

"What?" you didn't know what was going on. He never said anything like this, he only said you should level up in 10 days.

"So?" he pushed you against the table and confined you between his arms.

"What's your answer? Do you want to spend three weeks with me alone or do you want to be fired?"
