Why does it have to be that team?

You ruffled your hair as you stared at the paperwork before you. The documents of each member of Tiny Herb were scattered across your work desk with Wang Jiexi's details right in front of you.

I don't really want to see him.

You used to be good friends but that's changed over the time. It wasn't his fault, it was just that you stopped wanting to have to do anything with him.

Exhausted from overthinking you turned the paper with his face around. You'd have to see him soon enough, didn't need his picture now constantly staring at you. What should you do? Leave the check-up to someone else? No, you've already accepted it from the director.

And to add it wouldn't be good to be biased or prejudiced towards a certain team, it could only cloud judgement abilities and prevent seeing things from a neutral viewpoint.

You had no other choice. You picked up the phone and announced your visit at Team Tiny Herb.

_____________

OK.

You took a deep breath and went into the building.

And there you stood in front of his office. After you knocked, you pressed down the door handle and remained for a few seconds before he entered your vision.

His voice reached your ears while his brown eyes stared into yours.

Gently he opened the door but it was forceful enough to make you let go of the door handle and stumble into his office. You looked around, it didn't change.

He repeated your name, his expression didn't change.

"Wang Jiexi," you said as a greeting.

He sighed and searched for your gaze. Fed up with him trying to catch your attention, you turned to him.

"I want to get over with this as fast as possible," a simple answer yet hurtful.

You sat down in one of the two chairs in front of his desk, expecting him to go behind his work desk. However, he proceeded to sit in the chair next to you.

Doing unnecessary things.

You mentally rolled your eyes and took some documents out of your bag and placed them on the table.

"Ok, I need to check every member and-"

"Not everyone is here," he interrupted you.

Raising an eyebrow, you faced his way. He had his legs folded over each other, his right elbow was on the chair's arm, letting his head rest in the palm of his hand. His soft brown hair fell in his face. You looked away again. You cursed yourself for being tempted to brush his hair out of his face.

"What do you mean not everyone is here? I already called in advance to make sure that everyone is available!"

"I guess you have to come again tomorrow."

"Do I look like I've got the time to play with you?"

"You used to."

Upon hearing these words you briefly stopped going through the documents. You slightly narrowed your eyes but quickly regained your composure. Your heart almost dropped to your feet when he said those words. It was in the past. It had nothing to do with now.

"Tell me which members are missing so I can mark them down," you chose to ignore his last statement.

Your hands remained on the documents ready to pick out those who were absent today. You heard him shifting his position. Out of your eye corner, you could see him leaning forward.
