"What are you looking at?" a soft hand covered your eyes and a warm breath pleased your neck.

You turned around and slung your arms around his back, then looked up to him, "At my handsome husband."

Wang Jiexi's face remained unmoved as he stared at you but you could see his lips suppressing a smile. You buried your head in his chest and sighed, "Don't suppress it. Just smile."

"I see," Wang Jiexi kissed the top of your head and stroked your hair.

"Are you smiling?" your muffled voice brought a smile on Wang Jiexi's face, "Yes."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Really? Really?"

"Yes, yes."

You laughed and looked at him again. His gentle smile made your eyes twinkle. You bumped his nose before letting go and walked to the kitchen.

"Have you eaten yet?"

"No."

"Is Tiantian awake?" it was already 11 am but your daughter seemed to be still sleeping.

"I'll go look," Wang Jiexi was about to head to Wang Tian's room when you stopped him, "I'll go, you can do the brekkie- Oh wait, brunch," you held up some groceries.

"This was your goal from the beginning," Wang Jiexi sighed and approached the fridge.

"Oh my, perceptive as always," you giggled and evaded his arms and slipped away.

When you opened the door to your daughter's room, the curtain and windows were open. Light flushed the room where on the bed Wang Tian sat reading a book.

"Tiantian, didn't I tell you not to read like this? It's bad for your eyes," you sat on the bed and removed the book from Wang Tian's little fingers.

"Mum," with a yawn Wang Tian sat up and crawled into your arms. Her eyes were closed and her light brown hair was a mess. She had the same blank face as her father but once she showed emotions, it beautifully lit up.

You held Wang Tina's little arm and tickled her. Her light giggle was adorable, "Tiantian did you stay up late to read again?"

"No," Tiantian shook her head.

"Then did you wake up earlier to read?"

For a second, Tian didn't say anything before guiltily nodding her head, "Is it that exciting?"

You stared at the picture book. Tian was only 5 but she was already hooked and knew the drug reading was. It was all because Jiexi usually read her many stories to sleep.

"Let's go. Dad's cooking."

At this Tian immediately opened her eyes, "Really?"

"Yup you can witness daddy's cooking skills."

"Mum!" Tian stretched her arms out and looked at you. She only did that when she wanted you to carry her.

"Fine, just once," you gave in.

When you arrived in the kitchen, the delicious aroma filled your nose. The rare times Tian was excited was when Jiexi cooked. Somehow your pride was hurt.

"Dad really cooks well," Tian praised her father as she continued to stuff her face.

"Mommy too," Jiexi noticed your sulking and kissed your cheek.

"Come eat," he held up a fork and you obediently let him feed you. Your mood improved a bit.

"Atian, do you want to go to the secret place?''

After finishing eating, Jiexi took the plates and started washing them.

"Yes! Are we going?" Tian seemed very excited but you raised your eyebrow. 'Secret Place'? So they were having secrets.

"You want to show mommy the 'secret place'?"

"Yes, yes!"

The more they talked about the place, the more you felt they were doing it on purpose.

"Then get ready," Jiexi rubbed Tian's head who instantly rushed away.

"Dear?" Jiexi crouched down to match you sitting on the chair and took your hands, "Let's go."

"Hmm," you deliberately drew a pause.

"You'll love it," Jiexi gave you a little smile before placing his lips on yours and then kissed the tip of your nose.

"Alright," persuaded, you stood up to go change.

A while later, the three of you headed to the department store.

Tian walking between you and Jiexi, holding your hands. The hot summer breeze was replaced by the comfortable AC once you entered the department store.

You looked around.

"This is the secret place?"

You've been here many times. Were they making a fool out of you?

"No! There's a secret place inside here!" Tian said and Jiexi led the way.

On the second floor of this 10-floor department store, at the very end, there was a small store.

"This is an adoption centre for pets," Jiexi said as you saw all the different animals behind the cages, "They rescue them from the streets and hope for people to come and adopt them."

Tian excitingly looked around, "Where's feifei?"

It seemed like those two have been here several times.

"Mum!" Tian pulled you to a cage with a small kitten, "Can we please adopt a feifei?"

This kitten reminded you of a time before you and Jiexi got married. To be precise it was the day when you first met. You could still remember how overwhelmed Jiexi was by all the cats surrounding him. Cats really loved him.

You giggled the memory and looked at Jiexi. It seemed like he also cherished the first meeting. Tian anticipatingly looked at you waiting for your response, "Ok."

You finally said and brought immense joy to her.

"Having one kitten wasn't enough I guess," Jiexi put his hand around your waist and kissed your temple.

"You mean Tiantian right?"

"Hmm," Jiexi laughed before answering, "Maybe."
