-So, Meredith wait, are we good or...
-Yeah, totes. I just need to drink a few many tequilas. Why are you following me?
-C'mon, as if I was some creepy stalker. I'm your boyfriend Meredith.
-Ok, do you want to come drink with me?
-Fine.
No words were spoken during the trip to Joe's bar. When we arrived, he sat on one corner of the counter, and I sat on the other corner of it. It actually looked like a competition. You know, like "let's see who drinks more, who is the most broken of us both, and who has a stronger liver" kind of competition. At the end of the night, we were both so drunk we ended up laughing and stumbling every step we tried to walk.
-Oh look, this napkin is fetus shaped- I said while we both laughed.
-Haha, look at this! Looks like the dignity we've lost!
-Hahaha, like the fetus we lost- we both laughed. After a few seconds, our smiles faded away, and I started crying. We were so freaking broken inside.
-Mer, we should go home. If you don't wanna marry me, It's fine.
-No, Nathan. I want to marry you, but I'm going mad. I behaved as such a shitty person...
-You aren't shitty. Truly.
-So would you propose again tomorrow?
-Why not now?
-We are waaay too drunk right now. Let's call a cab and get out of here.
-Right
We went home and slept until next morning.
-Morning sunshine!-Nathan said.
-Morning. Hey so I had such a strange dream. We both went to therapy. But that's actually a really good idea.
-Why don't we go today?
-Sure- I said.
We went to work, and after that we went to Dr. Carr, and we had a session.
-Dr Carr, we are really broken. I recently had a miscarriage, and we figured it would be a good idea to come here.
-You made the right call. So, Nathan, tell me what a blood clot is
-Sorry, what?
-Tell me what is a blood clot
-Well, a blood clot is a tiny accumulation of solid-like blood, that clogs your arteries or veins. So, although it is very tiny, for the human body it is really big, and it can have really severe consequences.
-So basically, a blood clot blocks your way.
-Yes...
-Now, what was fetus for you?
-Excuse me?
-The baby you recently lost. Tell me about it
-Well, we were really excited, we loved the idea of being a family.
-What about you Meredith?
I said nothing, thinking about what to say
-Meredith, tell me
-Well, I had the illusion of having a baby with him. I really did, but I realized that I didn't realize how important it was for me until I lost it.
-So?
-So maybe at first I thought it was wrong to have another baby. I thought it was really messed up. But when it wasn't inside me anymore, I felt so empty. I could have killed myself honestly.
-So you didn't wanna have a baby with me?- Nathan asked in tears.
-Don't misinterpret what I said. Of course I wanted to, but I was scared. Baby, I'm sorry. Don't get me wrong.
-No, no I totally understand. What is more, I thought you'd be angry if I told you
-Told me what?
-That It scared the crap out of me
-So I guess you both felt the same way-Interrupted Dr. Carr.-now tell me, why do you think I made you describe a blood clot and compare it to fetus? Because fetus's death is like a blood clot in your relationship. You can't overcome this loss and your relationship is suffering sever consequences, just like with a blood clot. So you better take out that clot and let your blood circulate again.
-So, maybe this isn't the right place or the right time, but I don't believe there is a right or wrong time to do things. So Meredith, for the second time in the last 24 hours, will you marry me?
-Yes, yes , yes! I love you-I said
We kissed and Dr Carr said:
-You better pick me as a best man
Everything seemed to be okay again. I was now engaged and happy.
