December 20th, almost two months after I had been discharged...

-You can take him there to visit me from time to time.
-Well, you could also come visit Seattle-I said
-Yeah, sure. We will figure it out. We can just arrange all that stuff tonight when our shifts end.
-Okay, I'll tell Maggie or Amelia to take care of the kids.
-Okay then. See you
And with that, I left the attendings lounge.
The hours passed very quickly that day, and I couldn't be more thankful for that. When my shift ended, I went to the attendings lounge, and there he was. We talked for hours, about what we would do about Aiden, about where he was gonna live, whether Aiden would spend Christmas with me and New year with him or viceversa...
He was leaving for New York that night, and then it would all be gone. All done.
I would stay in Seattle and I'd take the kids to visit him the following month. After that, he would fly to Seattle for Aiden's birthday. And life would be like that. Christmas was around the corner, and Aiden was staying with me. I spent my days busy with patients, then went home to my beautiful family. All things considered, life was going great.
