Meredith And Nathan: fight for your L(ife)ove

"Family" dinner

I'm not gonna lie, this whole dinner thing was too strange. Amelia, Owen, the kids, Nathan and Me. I didn't even know if Maggie was coming. Anyway, I changed my clothes, put on some makeup, not much just a little bit of mascara, concealer and lipstick. Then I prepared Zola, Bailey and Ellis and waited for Nathan to pick us up.
He arrived in his car ten minutes later and then we all went to Amelia's house.
-Hi kids! How are you?
-Hi! I'm fine, thank you Dr. Nathan- Zola said
-What about you Ellis?
-I am dooding fine, I prought tome dolls wif me-she said in her toddler voice.
-That's great! What about you Bailey?
-I brought my cars with me so that I could play with them before dinner.
-Awesome!-he said- is there a chance I could play with you later?
-Sure-Bailey said.

I was glad to see that the kids liked him. He was so good with kids. Anyhow, when we arrived at their house, we could hear a lot of screaming and glass-shattering. What was going on?
I quicky ran into the house and told Nathan to stay in the car with the kids.
What I saw next was really disturbing. Maggie was breaking glass-made objects and shouting, and when Amelia tried to calm her down she scratched her arms. Amelia was bleeding a little bit because of the scratches. I tried to take Maggie, but she knocked me with her elbow and the last thing I remember is I was on the floor...
Owen tried to help, he grabbed me and placed me on the couch, apparently still unconscious. When I woke up, Maggie had left, the house was still a little bit messy and Nathan and my three kids were inside. Dinner was ready, and when I went to the toilet to wash my hands I saw myself on the mirror and I had pretty bad bruising. I couldn't remember anything.
Outside the toilet I heard Owen and Nathan say phrases like " she was out of control" and "thank god that Meredith is fine".
I went outside the toilet and asked them what had happened.
- Maggie came in before you guys arrived, she was totally out of control, I don't know why. She was screaming things like " you never liked me in the first place" and that "maybe if I died you wouldn't care"-Owen said.
-But why? Wasn't she invited to dinner?
-Kind of. Amelia thought she had invited her, but she totally forgot and called her today. She came here furiously because she thought we had forgotten about her.
-Oh my god, but does she really think we don't like her? I love Maggie, she is my freaking sister.
-Yes, i know! But she wouldn't listen. I think the best is to leave her alone until she comes back to us.
-No, That's not the solution. Leaving her alone would mean we don't care. She wouldn't come back to us, she would feel even more hated.
-Well we'd better talk about this later. Dinner's ready- said Amelia.

During dinner:
-So how is pregnant life so far for you guys?
-a little stressful, I won't lie- Amelia said
-Yeah specially when she has cravings at two a.m -Owen added with a smile.
-Meredith, you should tell us how you did it two times!
-Well, My first pregnancy was a little stressful too, because they had told me I had a hostile uterus, I was wondering what if fetus had eleven toes, and all that stuff. And my second pregnancy, believe it or not, was a little bit calmer.
-Why believe it or not?-Nathan asked
This was such an awkward moment I really wanted to run away.
-Zola, Bailey why don't you take Ellis and go play?
-Sure mom-they said as they left
-Well, my second pregnancy wasn't emotionally great. Derek had died and a few days later I found out I was pregnant with his baby. It was really hard for me to go through all that on my own. But Zola and Bailey helped me be strong.
There was a silence which probably lasted one minute. Then Amelia said:
-So Nathan, tell us about life in the army. Owen always says it's so much fun
-Well sometimes it's not that fun, Owen you should know it.
-Know what?
-When your sister lost it wasn't that funny, was it?
-Do not talk about Megan!
-Why not. I was his fiancé. I have every right to talk about her!
-But not like this. Not here, not now.
-Hey Owen!- I said- don't you think we should calm down a little?
-He got up from his seat and left upstairs.
-I'm gonna go check on him-Amelia said.
This left Nathan and me. This was really awkward. I didn't know what to say, until these words genuinely came out of my mouth:
-Nathan, are you fine?
He didn't respond
-Nathan, I won't judge you. I get it, you still miss her. You are not the only one. I miss Derek too. But I'm sure he and Megan wouldn't want us to be sad all the time. I didn't get to meet Megan, but Derek would have said "grab your new life by the hand and live it"
-yeah-he said with a slight smile-Megan would have said "get up crybaby, don't let fear get in your way"
-I'm really sorry this dinner was so uncomfortable
-It's ok Mer, you didn't know thigs would be like this
-Do you want to leave or...
-I think I need to go home
-Ok I'll call a cab, you should go home.
-What? No. I'll drive you to your house
-No, Nathan. Don't worry about us. I can ask Amelia to drive me. Seriously
-Alright, but let me know when you get home.
-Ok, see you
-Bye
