The Marauders Unite (III)

Snowy Slopes

December 25, 1975

At the main entrance of the castle, REMUS stands at the open door, looking over the snowy grounds. MINERVA approaches from behind.

MINERVA: How was the first full moon?

REMUS: (turning around) What?

MINERVA: With your new friends, I mean.

REMUS Oh. It was easier, for sure. We managed to get into the Shrieking Shack pretty easily. And they were- I mean- it was just a lot easier. Not being alone, I mean.

MINERVA: I expected as much. I could have guessed how difficult it was for you, Mr. Lupin. It was a good decision to let your friends in on your secret. They deserve to know.

REMUS: Yeah. And- thanks. For helping them become Animagi.

MINERVA: (smiling) Of course, Mr. Lupin. It's the least I could do.

REMUS and MINERVA stand in comfortable silence for a moment, before movement is seen on the snowy grounds.

MINERVA: Ah. I believe I see a certain trio of animals approaching.

Soon, a stag, a dog, and a rat approach the entrance to the Castle, quickly transforming into JAMES, SIRIUS, and PETER.

MINERVA: Good evening, boys. Having ourselves some fun, aren't we?

SIRIUS: This is so awesome! We should have done this years ago.

JAMES: Merry Christmas, Professor. Didn't expect to see you out so late.

MINERVA: Well, I assumed it would be my responsibility to be sure you boys don't go galavanting across campus in your new animal forms all night. Up to the common room, now. Get yourselves some hot tea and some sleep, you understand? Repeatedly transforming back and forth between animal and human can be energy draining. It is important to stay on top of your health.

SIRIUS: We will, Professor.

MINERVA: Go on, now.

The Marauders sprint up the stairs towards Gryffindor Tower. MINERVA watches them go before she returns to her quarters.
