Doc felt well enough to check on Hugh
3Gun came home, sheriffin' to do
He met Tiddly on the Rickety Road
Who told him what Miss Dixie wanted to do
3Gun was surprised Hugh wanted books
But it wouldn't be the first time he was fooled by looks
He'd see if the librarian could order a set
Even though Hugh's health was on tenterhooks
He'd have to chat with Barter about his satin garter
Seems some women in town were offended
He thought running for mayor, he'd be a bit smarter
But his campaign might well soon be ended
He'd seen election signs in Myna's cafe
Touting her soon-to-be husband for mayor
Iced muffins with his face in every counter display
And his autograph on all kitchenware
There was a sign on the livery
As big as a man - Dixie Bellows to Lead the Town
And a life-sized drawing of her fillin' potholes
With large bags of soil all around
3Gun found his chair when he hit the saloon
and CrookedSmile was right there with his drink
He hoped the election would take place soon
Before folks had too much time to think
