Fingers crossed, not a "No"...
How Loren would answer
AJ didn't know
His heart beat faster
As Loren walked in
His legs turned to jelly
As she kissed him good evening
He made her a dinner tray
And told her to take a seat
Noodles, wonton and meat buns
with all the brownies she can eat
And when she was done eating
He showed her a surprise
It was his mother's puzzlebox
with the prize hidden inside.
With curious eyes and gentle hands
the singer took the box
She turned and twisted, pushed and pried
but none was up to task.
"Give it here, Loren," AJ said,
"I'll teach you how it's done"
But Loren wouldn't have it,
"I'll solve this on my own."
She tried and tried, but failed again
The box just wouldn't give,
"Maybe I should use a hatchet,
I can do it with one hit."
AJ started to panic
He revealed from where it came
"It was my mother's, Loren,
And I'd be honored if you kept it safe."
"I don't think I can take it,"
was Loren's short reply
"Its a memory of your mother,
a remainder of her life"
She returned the box to AJ,
As he invited her for a stroll
They walked the street in silence
Until they reached the hill
They took a seat beneath the tree
And watched the sun go down
AJ handed her the box
And showed her how it's done
Left side one turn,
Right side three
One more turn
It opened with a click
Loren's eyes widened
when she saw what was inside
A gold and jade bangle
with an intricate design
AJ took the bangle
and held her hands tight
He knew its now or never
He looked deep into her eyes
"Do you remember when we first met?
You walked in the cafe, clearly upset
I'm really happy I made brownies that day
If not, maybe I won't be here with you today
I'm just a simple man, Loren
but I promise you this
I'll be your best friend, your shoulder to lean on,
and a great dad to our kids.
I'll dedicate to you everything in my life,
Ms Loren Order, will you be my wife?"
