Another Whirlwind
As Annie crept away from Will Barter's place,
Brody surprised her, a confused look on his face.
They straightened things out about their dinner.
It seemed the barriers between them were getting thinner.
Brody walked her back to the hotel where Bruce was staying.
They each tried to figure out the game the other was playing.
Annie tried to convince him, "I'm interested in you!"
But Brody didn't believe her. "What about Bruce?"
He pointed to the window, then gave her cheek a kiss.
Annie jerked away, not expecting this.
But then her feelings got the better of her,
and she returned Brody's kiss on the mouth with great fervor.
She knew she was kissing him out plain sight
In front of Bruce and the rest of the night.
Annie knew how she felt about Brody and thought he felt the same,
But the kiss hadn't helped - he still thought she was playing a game.
"Were you trying to make Bruce jealous with that kiss?
If that was your goal, you should have done it like...this."
He pulled her close and kissed her until
Her head whirled...and he kissed her still.
When he was done, he walked away with a tip of his hat.
Annie sank down on the stair and that was that.
Whatever she'd had with Bruce was gone.
And he would be gone, too...sooner than she thought.
