A Winner

The winner of the race was said

All other thoughts from his mind fled

He looked over at Myna's face

Her pride in him was easily placed

He picked her up and swung her around.

She was quite breathless

when her feet touched the ground.

Then AJ, Ray and a few other men

Hoisted Lorne up and then...

They traveled about the room.

Everyone cheered in the saloon.

"Okay boys put me down.

Need to thank the folks in town."

Then stood on a chair for all to see.

"Thank you all who voted for me.

I want you to know I take this responsibility

Most seriously. And if you ever need to talk

My door is open, I promise not to balk."

Hugh and Dixie offered their congrats

He shook Dixie's hand as Hugh patted his back

"Thanks for making this such a great race.

With you it was certainly hard to keep pace."

3Gun said, "Guess this means I work for you.

Gonna make it harder doin' what I think I oughta do."

"Just don't go crossin' any lines

And we'll get a long just fine.

If you do I'll be makin you come to work in suits.

And for a week shine all of Myna's boots."

3Gun laughed, "Hey! She still works for me.

She keeps up her shenanigans with the SSS

And it's over my knee."

Myna couldn't help but giggle. 

Lorne gave him a warning glare

But right now he was too happy, to care.

Then he'd seen Brody getting rowdy at the bar.

Had too much to drink by far.

Annie said she'd take care

But Lorne didn't think that fair.

But then appeared Lou and Bruce

She must have sprung him loose.

He'd have to see the judge about that.

No way he should be free, that coon cat.

Lou promised to take him home

Bruce hoisted him on a horse

All parties decided it best to roam

At Lou's they'd decide the best course.

Lorne went back in to celebrate.

Lemonade and muffins passed on a plate

A new life now did await.

Having his family by his side,

Lorne knew, it would be great.
