Margarita's Fate
The circuit judge made his rounds,
In BG he stayed the night.
He heard Margarita's story...
She was guilty in his sight.
Before he gave his verdict,
Margarita asked to speak once more...
"I es guilty of evil deeds, Senior
Dat es for shor.
"I will pay da price,
Whatever it is ju say
But in Busted Gulch
I want to stay.
Senorita Myna says she help me,
Senior Lorne too.
I work very hard,
To pay what es due.
I tell ju about da banditos
Da ones left in Tex's gang.
Por favor, por favor Senior
I no es want to hang."
Myna asked to speak next,
On Margarita's behalf.
She told the judge how Margarita,
Had been part of her staff.
"With out a jail at present,
Our prisoners are housed at the hotel.
At cooking and cleaning for the inmates,
I believe Margarita would excel.
I believe her change of heart,
Is true and quite sincere.
I ask for lenience your Honor,
But by your judgement we'll adhere."
His verdict was just and fair
Margarita sighed with relief.
She would be allowed to stay in BG,
And her incarceration would be brief.
Six months of jail time,
Another six months of probation.
Margarita softly wept...
With sincere appreciation.
