"Thomas Y/L/N." Professor McGonagall called up my brother to the front of the hall.
Even though I was sat far down the Slytherin dinning table, Thomas was so tall that I could still see him walk through the crowd of first years and sit on the wooden stall.
"That's your brother?" I turned to my friend Madeline, who was sat in disbelief.
"Yes, and stop gawking at him." I said, Playfully hitting her on the arm.
"How old is he?" She raised her eyebrows, not paying attention to my request.
"He's one year younger than us."
"Oh, so why is he just starting Hogwarts now?"
"Don't get me started on it." I replied rolling my eyes.
I watched as The Sorting Hat called out Slytherin, and Thomas smiled brightly. It was such a relief that he was in Slytherin; at least now I could spend more time with him. I leant forward so I was halfway on the table to try and make eye contact with him. I looked down the table when we finally saw each other and smiled.
"Hey,"
"Oh shit." I jumped.
"It's just me." Draco appeared out of no where beside me, now laughing at how he had frightened me.
"Not funny." I hit him playfully as I had done with Madeline. "Where have you been? You've nearly missed the whole sorting ceremony."
"I had homework." Draco replied.
"Oh really?" I asked, giving such a dead stare. "I'll believe that when I see Snape smile."
"Don't worry about where I was, I'm here now." He smirked leaning in for a kiss.
"I don't kiss liars." I put my finger against his lips and stopped him there.
"Well, I deserve that."

After the ceremony we headed back to the common rooms. I paced the room, anxious to see Thomas again. I had promised him the grand tour of Hogwarts when he arrived, and that I would help him with his homework.
"That sounds like a great plan to me." Madeline said with great enthusiasm. "That means he'll be spending a lot of time with us right?"
"Yes, but that doesn't give you permission to stare at him constantly." I replied.
I circled the room a few more times before the group of new Slytherin first years came in.
"Thomas!" I cried, throwing my arms around his neck.
"Y/N! I've missed you so much!" Thomas picked me up by my waist and hugged me tight.
"I'm so glad that you're in Slytherin, this is going to be great fun." I smiled at him.
From behind me I heard someone cough. I turned around and saw Draco, arms crossed.
"Hi." He said in a stern voice. "I'm Draco."
"Hi," Thomas replied, putting out his hand. "I'm Thomas. Y/N has told me lots about you." He slowly put his hand back to his side as Draco rejected his offer.
"Great, so you'll know that I'm her boyfriend then."
"Draco," I said, trying to diffuse the situation.
"It's fine Y/N," Thomas put his hand on my shoulder. "Yes, I am aware."
"Great." Draco said, still eyeing up Thomas.
I stood awkwardly between the two as Draco tapped his foot on the floor.
"Well, I'm going to head up to my dorm and get some sleep, it's been a long day." Thomas said.
"Okay, goodnight." I stood on my tiptoes and hugged Thomas again before he walked out of the common room.
Draco was still looking defensive and tapping his foot fast on the floor.
"I think I'm going to get some sleep too. Madeline, are you coming?" I turned and smiled to my friend.
"One minute." She replied.
"Okay, well goodnight Draco. I love you." I kissed his cheek but he only stayed frozen in his place.

It had been a couple of weeks since Thomas joined Hogwarts and we were spending a lot of time together. Due to his late start, he found it harder to pick up the simple spells and required a lot of help, which of course I was happy to give him. Draco, however, was still bitter towards the whole situation. He rarely said a word to me or showed me any affection, and was still hostile towards Thomas. The whole thing was getting unbearable and I had to say something.
"Draco, can we talk?" I found him sat in the common room late at night, staring into the fire.
"Yes" He said, not moving his gaze.
I just sighed and sat next to him.
"Are you okay? You've been slightly off recently."
"So you have noticed?" Draco scoffed.
"What do you mean?"
"Well I would have though that you would have been too busy with your new boyfriend to notice me anymore." He spat out coldly.
"What?" I asked, shaking my head.
"Thomas. I see how you look at him Y/N."
I paused for a moment and stood up from my chair. I ran my hands through my hair and tugged at the ends.
"You think I'm cheating on you with Thomas?"
"I see how much time you spend together. You're always hugging each other." Draco stopped suddenly, the flames of the fire in front of us flickered in his eyes. "I heard him say that he loves you."
I let out a small laugh to which Draco turned his head and stared me down.
"You think this is funny?" He said.
"Yes, I do. Draco, Thomas is my brother."
"What?" He tilted his head.
"He's my brother Draco. That's why I've been spending so much time with him." I laughed.
"But he's a first year?"
"I know. Stuff happened at home which meant he could only start Hogwarts now, that's why he's so much older than them."
Draco stood up and a look of realisation suddenly hit him.
"Y/N, I'm so sorry." He ran over to me and folded his arms around me.
"It's okay, don't worry. You weren't to know." I smiled at his foolish mistake.
"But I was so horrible to you."
"It's okay, it really is." I pulled back from his hug and looked into his eyes. "I still love you. Don't worry about this."
He still looked down and upset about the situation.
"Hey," I said, bringing his eyes back to mine. "Do you want that kiss now?"
"That would be great."
