Behind the Scenes - The Tower (- mini series)
The Tower is one of my favourite pieces of writing in the book.
I took inspiration for it when I was sat on my windowsill, and could see people passing me below.
I wanted to tell almost a 'Romeo and Juliet' like story, in which they both love each other, but are blocked by too many obstacles. The character of Amaryllis was almost a play on Harry Potter. Her family were killed in the first uprising against Voldermort, and she was left as an orphan. Amaryllis' family were extremely powerful, and her magical abilities where way above her peers; we would have later found out that this was why she was kept in a tower for so long. Within my head, it was either going to be Amaryllis or Harry that killed Voldermort.
I regret not probably finishing this series.
