I had to squint against the brilliance of the cloudless day as I breached the tops of the buildings, coming to a shaky hover a dozen or so feet over the tallest of the building nearest to me. If I had thought that things looked bleak and chaotic when I could only see the length of the street I was on, it looked a hundred times worse when I could see that it was happening on every street for as far as my sight could reach! I turned my craft around slowly, scanning to try to find Loki, but I couldn't see the glint of his golden, horned helmet, or the brilliant green of his cape. Where was he? How could he possibly have thought that any of this was going to work, that this was a good idea? How bad was this Thanos guy that full out massacre war like this seemed to be the better option?

The regular Chitauri were causing huge amounts of damage and destruction, but my stomach dropped down to my knees as I caught sight of the gigantic flying, armored eel alien. Anything in its path was annihilated. Its fin would completely shatter a sky scraper and it didn't even bother the great monster! It was more like it was dipping its fin in water than through hundreds of pounds of steel. What was going to possibly stop that thing? How could there possibly ever be something so humungous? What lived out there in the great wide universe? Hopefully not more monstrous beasts like this! There was no way I could take this thing down, but I had to help somehow before this thing alone destroyed the entirety of New York and then the rest of the world! Maybe I could zip around it and try to see if it had any weak spots in its gray, strangely armored hide.

It took all my courage, but I started wheeling towards the huge thing, heading straight for it when all my instinct screamed at me to turn tail and get as far away from it as possible. As I neared it I caught a glimpse of gold and red zooming through the air around the huge thing. Iron Man. What was he doing?

Apparently, he was trying to get himself killed! From somewhere inside his suit, a bunch of little missiles shot out at the monstrosity, hitting it in the face and making it wheel around, crashing its huge body into a skyscraper. I dodged the debris, shooting higher into the air. Through the cloud of cement dust that had once been part of the building I saw Iron Man doing something I hadn't been expecting Iron Man to be doing.

He was just floating there, hesitating and watching the creature that was now starting to fly towards him.

I wanted to shout at him to move, but the debris caked my lungs and sent me coughing as I finally broke the cloud of dust and destruction. I didn't need to yell, however, because apparently Iron Man got the idea on his own and shot off. What could I do, but follow them? Kicking my craft into gear I flew after them, wondering what in the world the man was thinking? He got the eel-alien's attention, but what was he going to do now? What was the point? I just hoped that the famous genius Tony Stark and the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s superhero group had a plan. Where were they anyways in all this disaster?

My answer was answered a minute later as Iron Man took another corner with the great beast and me following behind. Standing there in the middle of the street a few blocks down stood Captain America, Thor, a red headed lady, a man with a bow, and some guy in khakis. Iron man shot towards them, flying overhead and away, and strangely enough, to my horror, the man in the khakis started walking towards the beast and me! What was he doing?

"Run away!" I shouted, my cry breaking into another cough.

He kept coming though. I pushed my craft to go as fast as it could. Maybe I could fly faster than the creature and scoop the man up and out of the massive monster's way before he got crushed! But within seconds I knew this would be no good. My ship couldn't fly faster than the giant leviathan; the man was going to die!
