Unexpected

Flying Into Battle

So, there I was driving on the left side of the road instead of on the right side as I had my entire driving career dressed in my navy catalyst combat suit with a fully armored Norse god of thunder riding shotgun. As soon as I'd changed I'd grabbed Jane's car keys, not even really bothering to ask permission to borrow the car. This was an emergency situation after all! However now Thor and I were stuck in traffic, hardly moving more than a few feet at a time!

I blushed wildly, feeling totally embarrassed about our slow progress into battle. Also, I was freaking out because I was on the freaking wrong side of the road! I was even driving on the wrong side of the car! My whole driving experience was being flip-flopped and I had freaking Thor of all people just kind of sitting there watching me struggle! It took all my willpower and a sharp bite of my lips to keep me from bursting out into a torrent of babble to fill in the awkward silence between us!

Coming to a stop only a yard away from where we'd halted last I dug through one of the pouches of my utility belt trying to find my earpiece. I was probably being patched in to the other agents who were dealing with the alien beast as we speak. Finding it I quickly twisted it into my ear, my brows furrowing when I heard the static, still setting up the ear-coms huh?

"I do not understand why we are not moving." Thor finally spoke up, his brow showing his confusion.

"Uh, traffic." I explained, "Either there are just a lot of cars on the road causing a backup or there was an accident or-" I paused, instantly distracted by a sudden scratching sound in my left ear where my earpiece crackled before coming to life.

"Have they patched through to the Catalyst yet?" a masculine voice asked.

"Agent Donvey said that she'd be connected soon." Another answered.

"That was five minutes ago!" A third voice, this time female responded sounding out of breath.

I pressed my finger to my earpiece, "This is Agent Copper reporting in."

"I know who you are." Thor responded beside me, looking confused, "You introduced yourself back at the-"

"No, Thor, not you. I'm talking to the agents at the site." I quickly interrupted him, pointing at my ear.

"Catalyst? Excellent. Agents Pine, Donvey, Felling, Orville, Lee, and Jones at your command."

Six agents. I was now on pointe for an emergency mission with six agents under me. The thought made my stomach flip-flop as I tried to remember protocol. Clearing my throat I questioned, "Who is team leader?"

"Me. Agent Pines." The first voice answered. "We were sent in for cleanup detail and alien eradication after the latest Thor incident." The first voice reported. "We have a situation here."

"I know. I'm on my way with Thor in tow. What's the situation?"

"You can talk to your comrades from your ear?" Thor asked, seeming amazed, "Like how Heimdal can see and hear throughout the nine realms?"

"Kinda..." I said, trying to listen to the voice in my ear.

"Thor's with you?" Pine sounded astounded.

"Yes. We're working our way through traffic. Trying to get there for backup as soon as possible, but it's gonna take some time. Can you wait? What's your situation?"

"A large alien beast has been found around the warehouse district you indicated in your report to Agent Rumlow. It attacked us first when we came onto the scene. Bullets have no effect on it. Its hide is too thick. We called for backup and Rumlow put us under your command."
