Chapter Three
The cool night air brushed against me as I ran through the woods in search of random hikers. Animals scurried into hiding as I passed them, deer taking off seconds after they sensed the danger that was near. Though I knew that I could feed on an animal the same way that I could a human it wouldn't give me the same strength.
The flavor would be wrong as well.
A twig snapped somewhere my eyes zoning in on that direction. I slowed to a stop listening for a heart beat that could possible be close by. The wind shifted once again but in the wrong direction.
Hearing no heart beat in the close distance I listened for different sounds.
Footsteps?
Someone talking?
Anything that would alert me to who else that was around.
Thunder cracked in the sky once again echoing around me but for some reason I imagined the thunder closer to the ground. A few days had passed since I entered Forks and I found very little on the other creatures that roamed it but what I did find wasn't helpful to me. I also learned that the rain never seemed to stop and that showers like this was common enough.
The three at the gas station had belong to a man by the name of Carlisle Cullen who was a doctor at Forks hospital. He had five children in total and two of them were girls. Also a majority of the town believed that the family members had a thing with each other expect for Edward who showed interest in the Police Chef daughter.
I also learned that the kids barely visited the town unless they needed to get gas and that no one ever saw them eat. Will all expect for Edward that appeared more and more because of his girlfriend.
They also had a habit of stalking someone. More then once I had found their scents outside of the motel that I was staying at. More then once I had imagined ripping their heads off if they didn't stop trying to get a peek.
As thunder crackled once again I knew that I wasn't imagining it this time. There was no way that thunder that was suppose to miles and miles in the sky could sound so close to the ground.
Moving I went in the direction I could only but hope the sound had came from. I moved over fallen logs and avoided the low hanging branches. Leaves crackled under my feet as I moved swiftly across the ground.
A ball came halting down from the sky, slamming into the ground right before me. I chuckled, reaching for the ball with a slight curiosity.
Just where had it came from?
A loud growl echoed around me.
That you, Eddie?
Another one appeared, clearly not amused if it was indeed Edward.
Don't like you're nickname?
I chuckled, playing with the ball.
I wonder... is there a human with you?
A tree snapped falling to the ground. I guess that was my answer. Someone needs to learn to control his temper.
Tsk tsk.
I began walking forward, the ball still in my hands.
I'll give you a head start. You catch the ball and make it back to your precious human before I do, I'll think about leaving you alone.
An imagined of a humans corpse laying at me feet appeared.
Leaning back I threw the ball with all my might, knowing very well that he'd be able to catch it. What type of creature would play ball and make it sound like thunder that wasn't even there.
