Chapter Six

The sound of a shrill ring echoed in the house saving the Cullen family from my emotional rage. I watched Jasper flinch like he was the one who felt the sudden on burst of emotion and didn't doubt for a second that he did.

My hand dropped to my pocket before I pulled the device that was ringing out.

"I'm busy." I said, shifting uncomfortably as Edward didn't release his grip. "Like super busy."

There was a silence on the other side before the sound of a someone sighing deeply.

"Let me guess," his tone did not sound pleased, "you went and decided to bother those people you were asking about. And I could all but assume that you either killed them off and are burying their remains or you are in the mits of getting killed yourself."

Ah, he assumed to much.

That was Elijah for you.

"Is that concern I hear from you, brother?" I asked, clearly finding this more amusing then he did. "It's not like I have someone attempting to slightly chock me but not chock me at the moment. Completely not being chocked in the slightest. Totally not being chocked."

Edward moved his hand finally getting the hint.

Geez I thought I was slow at times.

"You are going to get yourself killed, sister, if you're not careful." Elijah said, clearly not buying my lie.

Will, technically Edward was only trying to intimate me. So I was only lying partly.

I cleared my throat running a hand through my hair. "Yes, yes I've heard that all before. In fact I recall you saying that a century ago. Ah, how times have changed and I'm still kicking and breathing." I shifted, feeling their eyes burn into me.

Right, so maybe right now wasn't the best of times to have a full blown conversation but Edward started it. If he hadn't thought threatening me was a good idea I would've just ignored my brothers call.

"I thought you would like the information that you had inquired a few days ago about." He said, getting to the points.

"Alas, I already know what you dug up no doubt. Though how they're vampire is still a complete mystery to me." I said, figuring that was what he was talking about. "How does one become a vampire with no beating heart?" I wondered out loud.

"Vampires?" Elijah sounded confused. "There's no such thing as vampires like that, Belle. I thought you got over playing tricks on family." Disappointment laced his voice.

I frowned, my eyes flickering to the so called vampires before me.

If they weren't that then what are they?

"It's not I mistaken but you brother." I said, meeting each of their stares. "They're vampires." But doubt laced my voice.

Did they lie to me to lure me into their house?

Was this a trick to kill me?

Did they know who I was all along?

Edward scuffed. "We're not going to kill you." He said, his eyes boring into me. "You think to highly of yourself."

Everyone could hear the conversion that was happening on the phone but Edward was the only one that could read my mind. And Jasper was probably the only one to feel the doubt that crept inside of me.

"Belle, I looked into it." Elijah said, completely confident in what he learned. "And vampires were not on the list of supernatural creatures that it could be. Even the witches have no idea what I was talking about."
