Hani.
Oh sweet Hani.
Your best friend who had been by your side since your high school days was standing feet away from you and introduced as Zero's sister. You never expected it at all. For a sweet girl like her to turn out to be your enemy's sisters — or rather just a demon in general.
You didn't wanted to believe it but with her standing there clearly within your reach and vision, you knew it wasn't a joke.
Then again, with your new path of life you were embarking on, everything was a new discovery for you.
First Jimin. Your sweetest most precious guy friend who had been there protecting you even without you knowing of his intentions. He was cute and handsome, attracting attention wherever he went and the fact that he had chosen to spend time with you and getting to know you had always been a question that popped in your head. But of course now you knew the reasons why.
Then it was Yoongi. He was the cold guy who looked like he cared about nothing and for no one when he too had been secretly looking out for you from behind while his fellow vampire friend took on the risk to actually get to know you. But Yoongi had been getting to know you in his own ways, you just never realized he was even doing it.
And now it was Hani, the one girl friend who had stayed with you when no one else did, acting like your own actual sister by blood. You had never suspected her for once being your friend, thinking it had been just a fateful encounter that you met such a friend like her in your lifetime.
But when she gave you the same surprise returned look, you knew then that she had no idea of you and your Royal Blood.
Much to your relief.
It gave you a sense of hope that she really had intended to make friends with you in the first place without any other intentions behind it.
"What's the matter? You look like you just saw a ghost." With Zero's voice bringing you back out of your daze - sort of - you felt like punching the man for being there in the middle of you and Hani when all you wanted to do was cry some more but for a different reason and to run into Hani's arms.
It was then that Hani suddenly looked back at Zero as if she had just remembered his presence and before you knew it, she was throwing a punch right at Zero's face probably due to the fact that she had came in on her brother pinning you to a wall and was about to kiss you.
Yeah. If the Hani you knew had known about some guy forcing you to do something you didn't wanted to do, she'd be quick on her feet to punch him in the balls. If the situation had been different, you would've probably be smiling to your relief.
But because the situation was a bit more complicated, you could only stare, still in shock, as Hani look your way, making eye contact as if to tell you not to spill the beans about the two of you knowing each other before she returned to her brother, glaring at the man.
You appreciated it.
Seeing Zero's face scrunching up with boiling anger after getting punched hard in the jaw, you were certain he'd fight back. "You little—" but just as he had hoped to when his arm went into midair, frost creeping along his fist, Hani was quick to fling it away, melting his ice.
"You're a little dog, aren't you?" She spat, clearly annoyed at Zero. "What did I tell you about manners?"
"I asked you to come and babysit for a few hours, I didn't asked for you to defend her!" Zero growled.
Hani scoffed. "I don't care if she's a monster or a vampire or some dirty rat, she's still a lady. And you know how I hate it when guys do those things."
You heard Zero muttering some curses under his breath. He looked like he wanted to throw back some punches to his sister but to your surprise, the demon only took a deep breath to calm himself down.
"I've got some business to do so I can't fight right now but when I come back," he narrowed his eyes at Hani, "you're dead meat," he pointed to which Hani only rolled her eyes to.
Zero then spared you a glance, one that told you not to be a nuisance while he was gone, and then he was off, disappearing into midair with black mists surrounding him.
Not long after, Hani turned back to you. You didn't know what to do and although you knew that the two of you were alone and out of Zero's sight and ears, you weren't sure whether to hurdle her into a hug or be afraid.
Yeah she was your best friend but the sudden epiphany of knowing that she was a demon and Zero's sister had you hesitating on your choices. Should you be afraid now that she was related to your biggest enemy? Or was she the same old Hani who didn't cared about blood connections and just did as she desired?
You had thought you knew Hani so well but there was so much that was hidden from you, just like Jimin.
Somewhat the situation was different, however. Because she was someone who had no idea what kind of person you were before approaching you. The two of you shared a deeper bond than you could have with Jimin. And it was disheartening you at the fact that maybe she was one of them, like Zero who had found out you possessed the royal blood and now he's after you.
Was Hani like that?
Sensing your concerns, Hani's eyes softened as they looked at you. Holding out a welcoming arm, Hani gave you a lopsided smile. "It's me, Y/N. It's just Hani."
Those simple words told you that everything was going to be alright, that she really was your same old best friend you knew since high school.
So you found yourself running over to fall into her arms and there in that moment the two of you quietly cried against each other.
Why had you doubted her in the first place? She was nothing like her brother. Hani was so much more different, so much more gentle and kind. It had been so long since you had last seen her. Falling into her embrace was like reuniting with your older sister (if you had one).
"Gosh I was so scared when I found out that you were supposedly dead. What the heck happened?" She asked, releasing you to see your face while her brows furrowed. "My brother killed you, didn't he? He told me that you have the royal blood and that Min Yoongi turned you into a vampire. I knew that all sorts of monsters attended school, that Yoongi and Jimin were vampires but I didn't know you had the royal blood."
"I know," you acknowledged, "I'm just as confused as you. It makes no sense."
"Well start from the beginning," she encouraged. "Zero won't be back until the next day and I'll be here for a while to make sure he doesn't harm you in any way."
"Thank you, Hani."
And so you went on to fill her in on everything—almost everything. You told her about how quickly after Zero had killed you that Yoongi was there to turn you and had brought you back to Namjoon's mansion, their home, where Yuri's former protectors had became your own protectors. You told her everything about how your life went on from there and there really weren't much to tell other than the fact that your sleep schedule has changed, that you were a vampire who's still trying to figure out everything and every one of your protectors.
You didn't tell her about Jungkook, however, about being bonded to him because the answers were so limited that you felt it wasn't important to tell her just yet. After all, what if Zero forced it out of her to tell him? At least with the other things you told her, it wouldn't make Zero go all crazy. You knew the man would get angry if he figured out you, supposedly his "princess," was bonded to someone else other than him.
"You might not like being a vampire but I'm glad you're not dead. I'm going to kill that stupid brother of mine," she threatened, jaw clenching at just the thought of Zero being the one to kill you. But that angry expression was soon replaced by a sad one. "Y/N," Hani whispered, reluctant and upset that she had to be the one telling you this, whatever it was.
"I won't be able to help you escape. My brother is far too stronger than me."
